Does Andy Ibanez deserve the nod at 2B next year?
It is way too early to know who goes where I think. It really depends on who signs, who gets traded, and who gets released. If we sign a SS and IKF doesn't get traded, I am afraid IKF goes to 2B.

If both IKF and Calhoun are gone then Solak probably stays at 2B with Ibanez at DH.

There are a lot of other scenarios too, and a lot of moving parts.

He'll be your utility IFer I'd guess judging by what they did with him this year. BTA it all depends on who gets signed in the offseason, who gets traded, who gets hurt in ST, who performs well in ST, lots of variables...

If they sign a SS I imagine IKF will move to 2B and Ibanez be the utility IFer, with Solak the odd man out or Solak could stay if he becomes the force at the plate they think he can be and utility player too since he does have OF experience. but........ :noidea:

A ton of them is on the table if the front office is being honest...

The Baseball Prospect Journal just came out with a new mock draft a few hours ago. It has us getting Elijah Green. Here are their first 10 picks.

SS. Brooks Lee
2B. Jace Jung
CF. Elijah Green
SS. Termarr Johnson
C. Kevin Parade
P. Dylan Lesko
OF. Andrew Jones
SS. Carter Young
OF. Chase DeLauter
3B/1B. Jacob Berry

This article suggests Termarr Johnson could play SS, 2B or CF.

Does not say much for Solak though who is weaker defensively. They let Ibanez start yesterday at 2B
Yep, his time to prove something here may be over. The question is, did he learn something when he was sent down that will keep him on an upward trajectory or will he, like Odor, continue to be hot and cold?

The main difference in him and Odor, is that Odor has 2600 more big league at bats than Solak. Solak doesn't have a longterm deal like Odor had, so he most likely doesn't get nearly as long to fail.

One thing to keep in mind is that Solak had much better numbers his first year than Ibanez has this year. He couldn't repeat that good year in 2020, but then again, that was 2020 and most stats from that year are suspect, whether good or bad.

So where is Solak now? Is he on his way back to 2019 numbers and very early 2021 numbers? Or, is he going to be that up and down, or hot and cold player. I think the jury is still out.

Solak's problem is that the Rangers have several prospects who could play 2B, so he doesn't have long to prove he deserves to be at 2B longterm. In fact, he may be out of time already.

If we are unable to fill 2B with current prospect at least season after next, it will be a huge setback. To me a guy like IKF aid a bridge guy.
Believe it or not I trust Ibanez bat more than Solak or IKF and it is now rivaling Calhoun.
Keep hearing about Castellanos again but to me that is not the investment we make now

Questions for the board

1. Is 2022 a rebuild year?

To me not near like last year unless we bring someone else up new.
I think you know what you have with the other players and there is not much else to sell

2 Who do you like in the playoffs? I think I may be keeping up with this and there may be some broadcasts I can actually see?

Side note. Cable contract is now expired so looking for avenues to stream Bally next year for Rangers

I think we are rebuilding until we have something significant built. We will not be there in 2022.

I think both Foscue and/or Smith will be knocking on the door by next July or August. Maybe Wendzel too.

Actually Wendzel may be our new utility guy. Saw Hernandez hit a ball at the park giving it all he had and could not get it out. Not thinking he is our long term solution and probably not IKF too

He could be, but let's not slot him just yet. He still could be an everyday player.

2022 is definitely a rebuild year. Putting more pieces in place. 2023 they could start to make some noise, but I don't expect them to be a competitive team until 2024 at the earliest. Competent rebuilding takes time.

Rooting for Rays and White Sox in AL. Braves in NL.

the Rangers subreddit started a thread asking for picks on who the Rangers should draft next year. Jace Jung was the top player pick. There were many votes for drafting a new GM/Prez of Baseball/Ownership team.

I like this report, Bennie. Keep them coming. Love to see this happen though it will be a few years before we see him here.

Definitely a rebuild next year but we better not lose 100. Will not again be rooting for them to lose.

Rays over Giants in seven.

Will be interesting to survey the upcoming 49 man roster crunch in lieu of rule 5.

Re OF on the bubble No way we keep all 3 of Eli W, Bubba and Steele

Can’t see us having all 3 catchers on roster and from what I have heard Garcia is the best defensively plus Huff in the mix too we are not dropping him.

To me Bush looked better than all relievers we had out there yesterday but hard to say for sure off one outing. He did have at least 2 pitches and extribe guys were not even close

Yes. Bad form as DT has said to root against own team. New CBA may make this a nonissue perhaps.
Almost like fantasy sports. Makes you conflicted and a bit dirty
