and some on here saying the Jets did not win the trade currently lol
I think it's on account of Adams small salary in 2020. No reason for me to think he won't complain about getting a new deal any less than he was already doing.

We'll see if he plays a down in Seattle on his rookie deal.

Can anyone tell me the last safety to go Top Six?

That's seems like a rare move. For good reason.

When the Saints drafted Lattimore, all of those 7-9 problems went away. It helped the pass rush because they had a CB that gave them time to get after the QB. Secondary helps other areas on defense.

If Seattle wants another first round stud they're going to have to pick higher and the only way that's going to happen is trading a player worth 1 on the team because they are not going to be picking high and probably not anytime soon.

No question they overpaid for him and I can only guess the reason being is the 9ers were very serious about him as well and forced the Seahawks' hand.

Now I wouldn't rake them over the coals for the deal because Adams is an All-Pro in his prime and if the Seahawks want to be in the thick of things they couldn't stand pat. Wilson is playing about as well as he's ever going to play and that's enough to cover a lot of warts on the roster but not enough to take them all the way. And before the trade the Seahawks roster was roughly looking around the same as it was last season and that's about good enough for maybe a win in the playoffs before getting bounced in the divisional or championship round.

Adams does get a bit of a boost playing in the NFC West which both the 9ers and Rams are going to really want to run the ball so him being an excellent box guy does help.

The concern I would have is that Adams looks more like Kam Chancellor than Earl Thomas and that's a huge price to pay for a Kam Chancellor type. He only has 2 INTs so far and that's pretty underwhelming for a guy you paid that steep of a price for.

Good trade for both but I think Seattle just guaranteed themselves a trip to the SB....

Look beyond the INT's.....he's a playmaker and can help pressure the QB.....

'Guranteed' trip to the Super Bowl? You really think that? I wouldn't say that even if I believed Seattle was a legit 11 win team last year, which they were not.

Maybe the Hawks should invest in some better scouts and a FO?

NE has had one pick above # 18 since 2010. Here are the players they've selected;
2010 D. McCourty #27
2011 N. Solder # 17
2012 C. Jones #21
2012 D. Hightower #25
2014 D. Easly #29
2015 M. Brown #32
2018 I. Wynn #23
2018 S. Michel #31
2019 N. Harry #32

You can still find very serviceable players late in the first round. Which you can lock up on rookie deals and not cost you anything close to what the Hawks just paid.

dunno if its been posted......i didnt read the whole thread.......walter likes the trade!

"Seahawks acquire S Jamal Adams and 2022 4th-round pick from Jets for 2021 1st- and 3rd-round picks, 2022 1st-round pick, S Bradley McDougald
It's hard to believe the Jets actually traded Jamal Adams. I know it's been a rumor that has circulated for quite some time, but I thought that the Jets would either find a way for Adams and beleaguered head coach Adam Gase to reconcile, or just outright fire Gase for not being able to generate any sort of enthusiasm from his players.

The Jets have obtained two first-round picks for Adams, but I can't say they won this deal. They'll be drafting in the 20s because the Seahawks always find a way to reach the playoffs with Russell Wilson, and that was before Adams. It's likely their two choices will be in the 25-32 range, so that's not enough for Adams, who is arguably the best player at his position in the entire league. It's disappointing that the Jets didn't fire Gase instead. Barely anyone on the Jets' roster likes Gase, and now the players will have even less respect for their coach. Gase will probably be axed after the 2020 season, so why not just get rid of him now and retain Adams?

I've seen the argument that the Jets won this trade because they acquired two first-round picks. I'd ordinarily agree, but two things must be considered: First, both choices, as mentioned, will be toward the end of the opening round. Second, the Jets have a small window to win during Sam Darnold's tiny rookie contract. Trading Adams away will negate that.

The Seahawks, meanwhile, have given themselves a much better chance of winning the Super Bowl. With Adams joining Quandre Diggs, Shaq Griffin and potentially Quinton Dunbar, they may just have assembled the Legion of Boom 2.0. If Dunbar can get past his legal issues, it'll be extremely difficult to throw on the Seahawks.

Grade for Seahawks - A
Grade for Jets - D"

If they want to argue the Seahawks won the trade, that's one thing, but giving the Jets a D grade is ridiculous.

Their assessment totally undersells the value of late first round picks. It gives the Jets tremendous ammunition to trade up in the next two drafts, let alone all the talent still on the board in a typical draft.

Name the last big name player that the Seahawks got in the first round?

I'll wait. Not like those picks were going to make a difference....
Spin away...The Cowboys do draft well in the 1st round, but if they had given up two 1st's and a 3rd for a Safety they are going to break the bank on you would be saying the same thing everyone else is...it's way too much

I tend to agree two Late firsts is not equal to a top 2 player at the position. Just being honest.

Brutal for the Jets that they couldn't keep a player like Adams around. What's the point of nailing top 6 picks if they're just gone in 3 years?
What an absolute disaster.

And the Seahawks can never get a player as talented as Adams because they don't draft high enough. No team would trade their top 5 pick for 2 late 1sts and a 3rd.

Seattle just got way better. Wish they didn't win this Adams competition. Smart move.
