I read somewhere the other day that McClay wanted Watt but the coaches preferred Taco
I trust mcclay over the coaches when it comes to talent evaluation I still thought Taco would do something and I was wrong to think that. Just no hunger or motor. Luckily we hit on the next two picks

I wanted TJ Watt with that pick. Taco has been a bust so far

Give that man a ice cold beer for speaking truth

I did not understand that pick don’t know who lobbied so hard for Taco but they got Montazuma’s Revenge instead Of a Mia’s Brisket Taco!
For those that don’t know Dallas Mia’s is a Mexican restaurant on Lemmon avenue known for brisket tacos among many other tasty Mexican dishes. It’s also where Jerry and Jimmy we spotted and photographed dining the night before Jerry bought the Cowboys.

Mostly JMHO

You guys all knew better than me on Watt. I'm always fine with trusting whomever this team drafts because they have been so good lately and especially in the first round, but I didn't really want Watt or Taco, but of the two I dd prefer Taco. I wanted a few DEs that I thought might be there but they all went before we got on the clock. Then when we were on the clock I wanted the CB King that GB drafted - remember our huge need at CB at the time.

One thing about Taco to remember when trashing him is that he is very good against the run. I know we all judge DEs on their pass rush, but he can contribute to this team I think and if he steps up his pass rush moves a little maybe he still can be a player for us.

So any chance Abram,Savage or Thornhill drop to 58? If one of them did I hope we take one of them. I think we would have to trade up. I like all three

T.J. for me too, but would that mean we dont get the wolf hunter last year?
Yeah, you got a point. I remember when I wanted the cowboys to draft Marino... was never a big fan of Danny White. If we had drafted Marino the triplets never happen

We have never prioritized it so I'm not holding my breath but would love a monster DT. The Rams had their way with us. I also think of the residual impact it would have on Lawrence, LVE, Jaylon etc if we had someone that demanded blockers.
a big fat ass in the middle of the DL, I've been begging here and Disney for a decade for us to draft one. Even if the guy never gets to the backfield, if he has a strong push up the middle it will either force two OL to pay attention or will draw the FB/RB up to reinforce. that keeps them from chipping our ends or picking up the corner blitz. That disrupting force is what this team has always needed. Not just for run stuffing.

im not ready to write off Taco either. DE in the NFL usually take a few years to really get the size and the speed figured out. However, we need a jump from him this year.

Agree 100% he needs a jump. I would love to say I was wrong on the kid.

Agreed. I guess Ratliff was the last guy we had that resembled that type of player.

Yeah, he was the last beast I can think of, but Woods might be our guy. I'd like some depth for him though.

Ratliff was more a penetrator and a one gap type DL. I think what you are proposing is more a two gap player to take on blocks and clog both holes against the run and take on multiple blockers and then maybe bull rush the OL in the pass rush. Personally I think Woods was very good at this last year. Could we upgrade? Yes, but maybe he develops a little more in both phases of the game too. Plus we rotate and may fill that role with two different players. There are very few guys in the league like Snacks that can just completely shut down the run in the middle and then also blow up the pocket consistently. I wanted a true NT for a long time and would be fine with bringing in someone better, but I am comfortable with Woods in that role again this year if no one else is added. I thought he was one of our most underrated players last year.

I think Danny Shelton is still out there. He's about as dominant a NT as there is in the game today. Killed the Rams in the Super Bowl after the Rams ran through our D like a hot knife through butter

Yeah, he had a huge game, but remember he kind of sucked before that and wasn't even playing FT. I give him a couple million max if they like his tape. I think we need to draft a DT. Woods was hurt for the Rams game. I think he fills that roll for us and the combo of he and Collins with the 2 young LBs behind them is pretty good IMO. The other thing we need is a safety to step up and help out when everyone else is getting sealed off. Jaylon and LVE were horrible that game and took themselves out of most plays as was Tank and I guess really the whole defense (except for maybe Collins). Danny Shelton wasn't going to change anything that particular week.

Yeah, I think Taco has a real chance, but I think this is the year the light has to come on if its gonna be in Dallas

With the way Dallas loves their own there is no telling if Taco has a short leash or not.
