damn, phillies game went into delay and i'm too drunk to watch anything worthwhile, so i wanted to see how bad that zombie nation movie was, but don't see it streaming anywhere. if you actually paid to watch a piece of shit, i'd give it a lower ranking as well.

Lol! I bought the DVD for $1 about 8 years ago. I managed to get rid of it when I consolidated and sold off a big box of them about 5 years ago. Yet it still sticks in my mind as the worst I have ever seen and I feel guilty that I sluffed it off on some poor unsuspecting chump.

I don't know about top of the genre. It is towards the top but I would rate the following near the same level or above it:
Night of the Living Dead
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Day of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake)
Return of the Living Dead
Re-animator
Shaun of the Dead
Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead
Dead Set
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Dead Girl
Cooties
Zombi 2
Slither
Siege of the Dead
Cemetery Man
The Horde
Train to Busan
Dead Alive
Zombieland
REC
REC 2
The Serphant and the Rainbow
Demons
Pontypool
Quarantine
Army of Darkness
The Girl With All the Gifts
Night of the Comet
Dead Snow
Night of the Creeps
Planet Terror
I Am Legend
Brain Dead (Dead Alive)
Resident Evil
Black Sheep
Colin
Juan of the Dead
Fido
Dead and Breakfast
Doghouse
Undead
Dance of the Dead
Deadheads

........not a complete list. Didn't go back to the early flicks like White Zombie or I Walked with a Zombie, I didn't touch on all of the cheesy like Astro-Zombie or Troma made stuff, and I just listed a few of the many foreign ones. But it covers quite a few of the "classics".

WWZ is a visual experience. Great fxs. But certainly some story flaws and the fact that it went completely away from the book was disappointing.

Great list

lol, Return of the living dead. That movie was hysterical.

I would add Land of the dead. One of my favorites, and I can't tell you why. Maybe it's the actors

Whenever I see your name I want to watch 1982 The Thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Just watched Terrifier and man is it a creepy clown freak show!

It is certainly low budget and lacking in a lot of parts but what they get right, the do great!

It starts with a bang with a tv interview of a disfigured attack survivor. After the interview we get some bitch comeuppance All this seems inconsequential to the story but it comes back later on.

Cut to Halloween night. A couple of really drunk hotties are leaving a party, which is odd because the area seems basically deserted, when they see one of the creepiest looking clowns ever watching them from a ways down the street. They decide to go to a diner to sober up and the clown follows them. Basically the clown stalks them for awhile, periodically doing silent tricks, and eventually shit goes crazy!

The overall feel is cheap. The acting quality varies from bad to good. There is basically no plot at all to get in the way of the story. But this baby brings the goods when it comes to a creepy bad guy and nasty gore! They certainly spent what little money they had in the right places!

We have:
*Arrogant tv interview bitch
*Mutant swamp face
*Exploding eyeballs
*Creepy clown staring and grinning
*Pizza cook jack 'o lantern
*Finger chopping
*Lots and lots of knife work!
*Crazy doll lady
*Upside down nekid chick
*Vag splitting with hacksaw
*Gunshot head trauma
*Hammertime to the head
*Clown doing tit skin dance
*Exterminator decapitation
*Vicious scissor chain whipping
*Clown shoe face stomping
*Face eating
*Morgue power surging

Drive in academy award nominations for David Howard Thornton in a non-speaking role as Art the Clown, and director Damien Leone for putting together this gory mess.

All in all, it doesn't lead anywhere but that's kind of the point. It is a bare bones slasher flick with excellent non-cgi gore fxs, a few twists, and is an excellent entry into the low budget horror genre.

I'll go 8.5 out of 10! Check it out!

Ok. I'm going to describe some of the worst badness in Zombie Nation. It is truly the worst thing I have ever seen (and I have seen some BAD movies in my time!).
220px-Ulli_Lommel%27s_Zombie_Nation.jpg

-Ropes people in with cool cover artwork and the title implication of many Zombies. But the artwork is not related to the movie in any way at all and there are only 5 "zombies" who aren't even really zombies! (I'll get to that.)

-Main antagonist is a muscular Austrian actor who can barely speak English. He somehow is an LA cop. Seriously, I can barely understand this guy!

-Main protagonist (if there is one) plays an idiot rookie who is confused on what he should do when he suspects his partner (aforementioned marble-mouthed bad guy) of murdering women. I mean that when they pull over women his partner arrests them for no reason, takes them to a deserted warehouse, tells the rook to wait in the car, and then reappears sometime later without the women but instead is carrying a duffel bag that he tosses in the trunk of their crappy non-police car looking police car, it is ok. But only later when the same women are reported missing does this knob start to think maybe something could be wrong! Ugh. This character mysteriously disappears with no explanation at some point. I have to assume that the actor realized what a shitshow this was and just stopped showing up to the shoots?

-Sets are bad. Police station looks like a partially painted warehouse with a couple of cubicle walls and a desk. Visible spotlights are in the background at times. It seems to also double for several other locations.

-Acting is horrible. I think these poor LA wannabes became aware rather quickly what a horrible mess they were in and gave up. But even proper direction and motivation wouldn't have helped this talentless lot.

-The "zombies" of the murdered women are awoken by some gypsy priestess with a snake. Even though they are buried and submerged they are not decomposed. In fact they somehow have very clean and stylish clothes on. They also converse lucidly. The only indication that they are "zombies" (a debatable point) is a ton of eyeliner that makes them look like raccoons. Pretty much EVERY Halloween costume I have ever had since I was a little kid was better than this dreck!

zombienation.jpg

-Pretty "zombies" with designer clothing and black eyes drive around in convertible. They do kill a couple of guys. Eventually these undead raccoons somehow become police officers!

-Quick flash scenes of a old dude getting spanked. It has nothing to do with the story. A baffling addition.

-Schlock director Ulli Lommel appears in a "tribute" to Marathon Man, saying "Is it safe" over and over again for no reason.

-Bad directing, bad acting, bad dialog, bad fxs, bad editing and no cinematography to speak of, music that doesn't fit the mood. Just general badness.

The only movie I have ever given a 0 out of 10! Again, I DARE anyone to watch this all the way through! I dare you!

I need to see this....I love good Horror movies but I also love bad ones so I can sit there and laugh at them and make snide comments.

That brings back recent memories...had an appendectomy a few weeks back and Law and Order Reruns were the only things worth watching on tv in the hospital.

Love Law and Order.....watching a marathon isn't unusual.

But, nothing good seems to be on today.

Always thought that commercial was bullshit. Stacy's mom lures a bunch of kids to her van with sweet drinks, yet when I do it the cops show up.

Don't like to read reviews, so only looked at the first and last and that's good enough to get added to the queue. Phillies seem to have things well in hand, just watched Dawk's HOF speech and piggybacking off his message to never settle, I think I'm good and ready to give Zombie Nation a whirl.

Less than a minute in there are flashes to tits, which aren't in the scene, I'm thinking this will work well enough for some here. Now to extended opening credits.

meh, this is more a shit show than worthy of being mocked. wraith at least had so many moments that would lend itself to comments. granted, could here, but the tone is just do fucking dumb. i'd have stuck it out, but finally saw links for Wellington Paranormal and have been looking forward to watching that... fuck not that much longer to go with this piece of shit, might finish it.

Good luck! There are the "So bad it's good movies" and then there are the cringworthy. I found this in the latter column.

BTW @Taddy Mason I bought A Quiet Place on blu-ray and watched it again. There were a bunch of things that either got added or that I missed when watching it bootlegged.... But long story short, some major questions were answered.

To name a few...

1. The scene where the father (John Krasinski) was lighting the recently deceased child's belongings/pictures/etc on fire on top of the grain silo... There was a brief moment after he lit the fire that his gaze scanned the surrounding hillsides and you catch glimpses of several small fires startup as if they were signaling one-another. That provided proof that civilization was in hiding, and indeed alive & well.

2. Timeline... There were clearly defined cutscene banners showing day numbers between each scene. The counts started somewhere in the 400's, and by the end of the movie they were around 473ish days IIRC. And there was also a much more lengthy scene of the newspaper clippings where I felt it was much easier to read the article titles which alleviated many more questions.
