The smallies on beds? That girl has quite the gut!
It's possible. The lake had pretty significant rock cliffs on the edges, so there wasn't really any flat water to see fish on beds. By the end of the week we narrowed it down to two hours of the day 8am-9am and then like 7-8pm. Outside of that, they really wouldn't hit anything. So they could have been on beds. The smallies on beds? That girl has quite the gut!
With the boom of senko's I'm actually wondering if fish will start to learn not to hit them? The last like 10 years has seen those things explode and I see everyone fishing with them (including myself).I mainly fish for bass and I mainly use plastics when I do. Usually a T-rig worm. Standard variety. I finally tried the senko yesterday and I have to say... it's absolutely the best plastic worm I've ever used. Caught 4 bass last night at the mouth of a local creek where it empties into the Allegheny river. First was about 9", second and third were 11-12" and the fourth was a good 16". Was a pretty good night considering the water was high and muddy.
I will note though that these things are expensive ($8.50 for a 10pck) and fish destroy them. Caught four fish but ruined 3 worms doing it. Was fishing them T-rig, weightless from the bank.
Could be an issue I guess. Especially in heavily fished areas. It's really just a plastic worm with a better action. Plastics have been around for a while. Though I'm sure the Senko has increased the popularity of plastics. With the boom of senko's I'm actually wondering if fish will start to learn not to hit them? I've been really into these:Could be an issue I guess. Especially in heavily fished areas. It's really just a plastic worm with a better action. Plastics have been around for a while. Though I'm sure the Senko has increased the popularity of plastics.
I also picked up some rage tail baby craws. The action on those things is insane FWIW. I haven't had any luck on them yet though.
I might have to check those out. Might have to check out Mystery Tackle Box too actually...I've been really into these:
Castaic Baits Jerky J's
The skinny tail on them provides a crazy action and because of the slits on the top of the lure, you can make a really nice weedless presentation without burring the hook into the plastic. The first time I got them (out of my mystery tackle box) I thought they were those gross packages of preserved real bait and was shocked when I looked closer and realized they were plastic.
Just call me the Fish Whisperer.
