This may have been covered already, but the more I think of it...

Why not trade Kyrie AND LeBron for as much expirings and young talent/picks as you can?

LeBron obviously has a no trade but if you could find a way to get him on the Celtics or Twolves or OKC or any team that would become a contender adding him, doesn't he say ok fine a year early? He's not getting any younger, why waste a year in Cleveland where there's no way they get another title? Hell get Love off the books for an expiring...

Cavs can say "we won one, you all saw the shit we had to deal with, we decided to go big and blow it up and try to build a new team for the future...

I mean, this is at least a reasonable option right?

LeBron will not waive his no trade clause no matter what. It is not in his best interest to do so.

Any team trading for him would have to give up too much to get him that they wouldn't still have enough to challenge GS. Also, I am pretty sure he doesn't want to do anything that would help Gilbert beyond his time there.

Winner x 100 about the Gilbert part.

The writing was on the wall when they lost to the Dubs. Now it has to play out

yeah, I think most of us knew the Cavs didn't quite have enough to beat the Dubs this season and now THEY know it too imo. i'm guessing it's in the back of all their minds...

Well to be fair no one saw KD going to GS. But that move ended the window as the Cavs had no flexibility to counteract. They maxed out and it all ran on the Love deal

Not true.

There were rumors about the move 6 months before it happened. It is just that all the talking heads on ESPN assumed he would return to OKC after they overachieved in the playoffs and almost beat GS.

Imo, when the Cavs went all in with the guys Lebron wanted and signed Love long term, they made the right move and set themselves up to be a contender for years to come. However, at the time those moves were made, no one saw KD to the Warriors happening.

Once the KD to the Warriors rumors started, there was already no real way for them to improve enough to catch them once KD actually went there.

To the OP question:

Unless the Cavs can figure out a way to get Lebron to waive his NTC, they can't blow it up until next summer. As @tlance pointed out, other teams would have to give up too much of what would make them attractive to Lebron.

He'd end up in a situation similar to when Melo went to the Knicks. He thought he was going to a team where he would be the piece that put them over the top...only to find out when he got there that the players that made them attractive had been included in the trade to get him.

Lebron's a little smarter than that. lol

Yes, I agree with that.

Can't see them trading Lebron but with Irving, more than likely, leaving I doubt they sign Lebron after next year.

You know what is really funny?

At this time last year, posters like @lebron23james and @WiggyRuss were saying over and over how the KD move didn't help GS and would actually make them worse because of lost depth. @lebron23james said that Kyrie was better than Curry based off of 3 Finals games where Curry was clearly playing hurt.

Where are those guys now? I miss the hot takes. I want to hear them say that losing Kyrie won't affect the Cavs after they overhyped him so much. Or that Derrick Rose is the missing piece to get them past the Warriors.

Best part is @WiggyRuss has the nerve to call anyone a coward.

I'd imagine they are too embarrassed to show up after all of the shit they talked.

The funniest part, imo, was that after they talked about the depth that GSW lost and how it would make them worse, their bench actually ended up being better than before they got KD.

Wiggy was right about 1 thing though:

as always...time vindicates.

3 straight finals and blow it up? Jeesh. IF you reach the finals that many times, all you need to do is tweak the roster. Not blow the damn thing up.:L:L:L

Only in this prima donna league we have today is where you would see nonsense like this happen.

No wonder the NBA is barely watchable now

Tweaking the roster isn't going to help the Cavs with the shit-show that is currently playing out there.....

Did they really say adding KD didn't help GS ?

Yes. They said it would help the starting 5, but it would kill their depth and make them worse overall because the starters would have to play too many minutes.
