True, but for some reason Giants pitchers (except for Brian Wilson) never seem to have to have it done. Not sure if it's the type of pitchers they draft, or better trainers, or just a small sample size (probably the latter).

Krukow was saying this morning, hard throwers are affected more by it. I also heard younger pitchers are pitching alot more growing up and that is in part responsible for the rash of injuries.

I heard that last year. Younger kids seem to be pitching much more than in years past. They pitch year round it seems and don't rest their developing muscles enough.

It also used to be that high school coaches would teach (or allow) their pitchers to throw off-speed stuff because it put more stress on their elbow and ligament(s). That isn't the case anymore.

This theory was put forth by a well-known orthopedic surgeon. Heard him on the radio but can't recall the name
