The Yankees get their man! When you include the posting fee of $20 million,it comes to a total of $175 million! The phillies will probably sign him when he turns 37 years old,so we must be patient.

Who cares about the Yankees....we got Bobby Abreu. U know how many teams they out bid for him. They should bring back Bret Myers since they like bring back mothafckers.

Anyone know which nursing home Pat the bat Burrell is hiding in?

Maybe Amaro can trade a case of Geritol for him

I agree fellas. Awful signing! Worst general manager ever!!! And imagine if Abreu actually makes the team... 800k??? This move will singlehandedly make the Phillies the worst team in the league.

Somebody on one of these threads has stated that Rueben is replacing young guys with these old retiring players and I can't for the life of me figure out why anybody would choose that course to build a team? It is completely beyond reason.

Bringing back Abreu is one of the best moves Amaro has made. I just hope it is not too late. Trading him away was the worst move by the Phils front office in decades, and that's saying a lot. Had they kept him around, with the rest of the Phillies core they probably would have had at least 2, maybe 3-4 World Championships instead of just the one.

Dude are you high or something. It was reported that Jerry Dipoto was willing to give up Mike Trout for Mike Adams because he needed to swell up the backend of the bullpen. Dipoto just wanted an 800 grand kicker; but Amaro, knowing he would need that money for when Abreu makes the team, called the deal off.

Do you now see how huge an impact this signing had on the future, and why everyone is whining non-stop about it?

Oh good, we got Abreu. Now we can shoot Mayberry.

Can not shoot Mayberry. He has connections. How else could he get a contract if it was based on merit?
