Party hardy. That's the default option for reigning SB champs.

I have either really loved the scenario posted or hated it. This one I would love with the condition that Smith's medical record checks out better now than it did at the combine. I mean Chris Jones provides help at an immediate need. i think almost all of us have said that we like this kid and love his potential when paired with Kollar coaching him up.

ILB may not be an immediate need. We still have Brandon Marshall (please don't hold out) who is a star at the position and they seem to really like our inhouse options. The issue though for next year becomes what happens if we don't sign Marshall to a long-term deal this off season and what happens when our depth guys start becoming some of our FA's after this year? So adding a talent like Smith while a huge risk we have the team this year that can allow for him to sit a year and then see if he truly is that top-10 talent next year or maybe even at the end of this year to give us that much needed push for the playoffs.

This draft definitely has a lot of risk as Jones is a very raw prospect plus just had his DUI incident not too long ago. Smith we have no idea if he will ever play so using a 2nd round pick on him is a huge risk. At the same time though with drafting at the end of round 1 sometimes you need to take some risk in order to stay on top for years to come. So I would be in favor of this draft. My only real negative beyond the risk side of it is that our offense is probably the side of the ball that needs more help so using our top-2 picks on the defense isn't doing much to help our biggest weakness from last year.

I was going to post something similar but I like OT Germain Ifedi instead of Jones if they get Smith but LOVE Smith. Denver can afford to wait on Smith. I think he will go earlier than 63.

Smith is my personal favorite so I would love this draft just because of him.

I like Jones - quite a bit. Smith - like others - have said - if the prognosis is good.

If the prognosis is good - he may not be there at 31 much less 63.

There is good and then there is good. My reference was to long term return to play - not necessarily to play this season. The Broncos can afford to stash this guy on IR for a year, but there needs to be a reasonable expectation that he can play at a high level.

I agree - there I go again!

But I'm willing to throw away a second round pick on the chance that he returns to form in 2017 and becomes a perennial all pro and team leader.

Not like we haven't thrown away a second round pick before... ;)

When you can get undrafted college guys signed up who later turn into All Pro players - like Harris - (and Shaq Barrett sometime soon) you can afford to throw away a 2nd rounder - now and then.

seriously, I'd be happy

Even though we'd probably be passing up guys I like, I would be really happy with these two guys

I would just hope that if this happened, we'd have Kap by that point

Unless we can land Dak in rd 3

If the draft went Jones, Smith, Prescott, I would be really happy

Taking a gamble on a top 5 pick if healthy in rd 2.. Bolster DL at 31 sweet too. Love this combo.

I like Jones but I think Ifedi has great potential and fits a big need also. I think somebody takes a shot at Smith way before Denver pks. Just so much scary potential if the guy gets back to his old self. Could very well of been first pick in this draft had he not gotten hurt. I definitely would red shirt the guy too. Probably what a team would have do regardless anyway. The nerve damage is the biggest issue I`m hearing.
