They could also trade back and get a few positions. I wouldn't be against that. Maybe sneak in a QB that way...

The trading back option could be best since the Fins have multiple needs to fill. There is some depth at the QB position. Also there is good but not elite talent at some positions such as TE.

Another option is to trade up for the right offer if the QB that they want is available.

I'd rather have them wait at 11 and if a good QB slides take him. If not trade back fill a position of need and maybe take another QB later. This way they don't ignore the other needs as they are pressing too. Of course if any player slides to 11 and they like him take him! QB can still be taken later.

I was thinking we could list guys that we would like to see chosen at 11. Here's my list in order:

Any of the top 4 QBs, RB Barkley, DT Vea, OLB T Edmunds, ILB R Smith. Any of these guys could be differce makers for the Fins. There are other guys that I like with a tradedown in the first: RB Guice, DT Payne

TE is also a big need but I see the top guys as 2nd round talents. CB is always a valuable position to consider.

DT Phillips took a step up in production last year and DT Godchaux played very well. V Taylor has potential. That being said, Vea reminds me of V Wilfork. He's probably going to be the best player available at a position of need. I think he would be very good against the run. The Fins would have quality depth on the Dline.

I think Phillips will get a bunch of money thrown at him in 2019 and won't stay.

The team may extend Phillip's contract. This season is important for him to build upon last year's success.

The Fins may decide that the current DT's combined with a later pick at DT could be enough at that positional group. If so, I like LB Edmonds a lot at #11.

What if that OG falls to them? Probably have to take him. I'd be ok with a DT as well or trade back and fill a few positions. TE would be nice in the second or a QB to groom.

With the additions of Sitton and Kilgore combined with quality play by Davis, the Fins interior line play should be solid. Picking Nelson isn't a necessity. It would be a luxury though to have him opening up running lanes. It would be an interesting decision if he reached #11 because the Fins would have one of the best Olines in the NFL in quality and depth if they added him. I think most likely the Bears will pick him at #8.

LB Edmunds and DT Vea are my top two choices at #11 based on the Fins needs.

Agreed on TE and QB. Those are the most likely choices for a 2nd pick if there is a run on QBs early.

Prospects like Vea don't come around too often. That's why he's my #1 relaistic choice at our spot.

But I wouldn't be that upset if we took Smith or Edmunds.

I like a Hayden Hurst, or a top OL in Round 2.

Trading up is usually costly. Plus teams like the Bills have more trade capital. I think there is depth at QB. I think there is a chance that the Fins could get a quality QB with the 2nd round pick if one of the top 4 doesn't slide to #11.

On a different note: Anyone know why some draft analysts are suggesting that the Fins pick a safety since the Fins have two quality safeties already. R Jones & TJ McDonald are both very good players at the position.

I think Derwin James is a guy you can slide in at the NB/LB hybrid role that's going on nowadays. WLB, too.

And Jones is on the wrong side of 30 now, but he isn't that cuttable until after 2020. (It'd be 8M dead money if cut before the 2021 season, 12 M the year before, and 17M if cut this season.)

Bc McDonald and jones are essentially the same player. In the box safeties. They need a center fielder essentially

Probably looking for someone that can cover Gronk so if a S slides I wouldn't be upset with that. Although who knows gronk may be gonzo...

I was really surprised to see Minkah Fitzpatrick fall to #11 to the Dolphins. I thought for sure he'd go somewhere in the top 10 maybe Cleveland at #4

Saban was quoted as saying " I don't ever remember having anybody that's played all the roles he's played here and done it as well as he's done it"

Fitzpatrick is a true gamechanger. I noticed that the Fins got the pick in quickly. I think they are delighted to have him on the team.
