In the Mariners 42-year existence, there have only been 12 seasons when they managed to have a winning record through the first 10 games.

Their best 10-game start has been 7-3, which they have accomplished 6 times, the most recent being 2009.

The most common start is 4-6 which they have 'accomplished' 13 times.

10-0: 0
9-1: 0
8-2: 0
7-3: 6
6-4: 6
5-5: 6
4-6: 13
3-7: 7
2-8: 4
1-9: 0
0-10: 0

So, there is your dose of useless information for the day. Enjoy it with your edibles and favorite beer.

This team is currently 1 game off of the 116 win pace of the 2001 team :suds:

Of course, that team went 13-1 over the next 14 games.

I mean 6-4 doesn't seem like much but its also remarkable how many times this team has buried itself in the first couple of weeks and never fully recovered

6-4 is pretty remarkable considering the injuries and a few pitching performances and offense not showing up. What can separate this year from others is this A's series. It seems almost every year fans start feeling optimistic about them then they run into a team like the A's (an inferior team that they should beat) and get swept and it snowballs.

Thats exactly what happens to the Mariners

a couple years ago the Twinkies on their 100 loss season rolled into town and I think either swept us or took 3/4 and the Ms never recovered after getting taken to the woodshed by a far less supeior team infront of the hometown crowd.

Ah yes! Ye olde 7-4 record to open the season! The Mariners ride Mitch Haniger's prodigious power to yet another early season win. 2018 shall go down in the ranks as only the 10th of the Mariners 42 seasons to reach such rarified air after 11 games. Previous successes:
1980 (seriously?)
1984 (Alas! They went 67-84 the rest of the way)
1985 (See 1984)
1995 (Edgar and his salary-challenged brethren knock out the gold dust Yankees)
1996 (Flatulating failure following the 1995 fantasy)
2000 (Arod's swan song. Who needed him anyway? Look what we did the next year.)
2001 (Suzuki's sass and Booney's biceps power a Cinderella year that is preemptively unpluggeded by the ruthless ragheads of 9/11. 72% winning percentage before, 56% winning percentage after)
2002 (the 3rd year of a 4-year run that netted 393 wins)
2009 (Felix finesse emerges for the first time in an unlikely 85-win year sandwiched in between two 101-loss seasons)

Props for the knowledge of stats and formatting

They play a 162 game season for a reason ( besides the chance to sell 2 1/2 million tickets ea team )
