I'm always interested in trying beer and food together when i have the money

For example, steak, grilled chicken, pasta, salads...etc

So far I like mexican beers with spanish food obviously
Peroni with pasta
any cheap shit beer with chips or snacks
Guinness with chocolate

I don't like my Beer over powering my food, so I tend to shy away from high hoppy brews while eating. Therefore a lighter Lager or Ale with say, Pizza. Something like a Fat Tire, or Pisgah Brewing's Amber Lager, or Hi-Wire's Lager if you're in my neck of the woods. Fat Tire is national, so you can get the idea.

For me:

IPAs - spicy or highly seasoned foods like wings
Brown/Red ales -steaks and BBQ
Cerveza - TexMex
Belgian/Pilsner - baked chicken/fish
Run of the mill lager - typical of a backyard cookout (i.e.- burgers and hot dogs)
Guiness/Stouts - more of an after dinner beer for me, like a dessert. It pairs with the steaks and BBQ ribs as well.

Basically, I can drink anything with any food pairings, but some pair better than others. The wife still can't get over the fact that I can eat cheesecake with a beer.

:noidea:What's wrong with that?

If you go to the company site (or there are others) they will tell you what pairs well with it. I know New Glarus does that on their site.

Here's an example:
New Glarus Brewing

Here is a decent rough guide to get you started you off ugafan:

Hahah! I hear ya...lucky for me my wife likes beer with almost anything.

I'm a lightweight when it comes to spicy, so I can't do a hop-bomb with wings. Have to do something smoother, like a pilsner. Otherwise your pairings work for me.

I drink water with my food and then switch back to beer when the food's gone so I don't spoil the taste of my beer

Ever see the relatively new TV show called Beer Geeks? It usually shows the brewing process, cooking, then pairings.
