Well Esmil Rogers just stifiled the Rockies Tuesday night and his comment on how his pitching has improved is not news to us. Remember how we talked 2 seasons ago when Orel mentioned on a Sunday Night game Rogers was not hiding the ball and tipping his pitches? Rogers said last night that pitching coach Preston Walker of the Jays has Rogers turning his body slightly thus to hide the ball before delivery. So everyone including ourselves knew the fault in Rogers delivery but Apodaca couldn't correct something that simple? It's no wonder why the Rockies pitchers have struggled over the years. They didn't have a pitching coach with the ability to correct the little things, yet alone manage a whole rotation. Now under a new staff they seem to be headed in a better direction.

The transformation in Rogers when he went to Cleveland was incredible. The Indians would not have given him up except for the deal they received from the Jays. Rogers is arbitration eligible next year and if he continues to pitch the rest of this season as he has done so far this year and last he will be in for a big pay hike. His stats would suggest it was something other than Coors Field that was the problem for him and that really only leaves the tutelage he was receiving in Colorado or lack thereof. Funny, we all knew that for some time before anything was done about it.
