Unless he was a distraction in the locker room or something strange like that, I wouldn't mind taking another chance on him for that price.

We'll see where he goes. Maybe he's using Winnipeg as leverage to come back and get a better offer from SJ.

I have NO factual basis on this as it's pure speculation.....that said Chango, there may be something that Wellwood does that rubs other teammates the wrong way (i.e. - quirky personality, lack of work ethic, something else). The guy is always looking for a new home and is super cheap for his on-ice contributions.

Besides, he's not good on the defensive/hustle side of the puck and he only meshed well with Pavs and Mitchell. With Seto gone and Handzus signed, the Pavs-Mitchell-Wellwood line wouldn't work.

Not sure if that makes you feel any better though, lol.

Eh He disappeared in the playoffs is probably the biggest thing, not to mention he opened his mouth and never produced

I don't get the love for Wellfed. He played well in spurts but he wouldn't shoot to save his life and he got pushed off of the puck easier than a 12 year old girl with Polio.

He was not the answer for the third line.

Not a big deal. Dougie will probably just piss off another GM by grabbing his mid season FA signing off waivers and plug him into the third line anyway.

I'm not that upset, but I thought Wellwood would have been a nice back up plan. We know the chemistry that the hellicopter line had, and it would have been nice to have another line that could score. Plus he could have been on the 2nd power play, but I do understand he was a defensive liability and a non pk'er, and was weak on his skates.

Ohwell, I just don't like how our 3rd and 4th lines look.

I would have liked to keep him. He wasnt that bad defensively, and his creativity with the puck was quite impressive. (I still remember the awesome feed to boyle out of nowhere in the PO's). I actually think his departure will hurt offensively. However, its not likely to be any kind of difference between a cup or not, so I wish him well, and I thought he did a real nice job for us.

He did nothing when it mattered kind of like heatler, torrey mitchell was more productive. When it counted then those two.

I liked his skill set but id rather have samsonov over wellfed

Smaller guys who are nifty with the puck always seem to rope some fans in who ignore their deficiencies.

Rares hit it on the head, no big loss. Proud of you, Rares.

Agreed. For 750K at one year, I would have liked him back too. He was a nice waiver pick up and played well in the LA series. Played better than I would have ever expected.
