Just read the link and.....shit, it is February 9th already! And I just don't feel like switching gears and digging ito that yet.

Quick flash read on our free agents....there are some obvious let go's. Beatty, Stutgis and Ellerbe can go in my view. That is not really going to save much....so we will see.

In a perfect world the entire starting and strong contributing roster gets together and offers to work out deals that keep them here another year and keep most of the team together. But, that is just not how this works. So....here is where Howie and crew get tested even more. Sure....you just ran off about the most impressive 18 months of personnel moves ever.....but plenty of challenge awaits.

Some can be saved....some have to take cuts or get cut......some will come in and join the crew and work to contribute. I am speaking in gross generalities at this point as.....I am just not ready to put my mind around it.

But I know it is going to be a very interesting offseason to watch on many fronts.

Eagles 2018 Free Agents: Who played their last game with Eagles as Super Bowl champions?

I think Blount is gone since we have Ajayi

I think Burton gets a starting job somewhere

I'd like to see them keep Bradham

Keep Braman, would love to hold onto Robinson and Goode.

Must keep Beau Allen.
....................................................................................

Unless we draft a stud RB, I would keep Blount one more year.
Yes, I think Burton leaves.
Keep Bradham unless he breaks the bank. In fact, Another LB could be or 1st pick. (Raashan Evans).
Braman probably gets cut.
Robinson is 50/50.
Goode gets cut.
Allen gets a good deal elsewhere.

Have Sproles or Peters mentioned what their plans are for 2018 yet?

Howie now faces some difficult decisions. The team is roughly $8 million over the cap and has several key role players and one key starter set to leave as a FA.

But this is what I would do:

* KEEP FOLES
* Cut Brent Celek
* Cut Torrey Smith
* Restructure or cut Vinny Curry
* Restructure or cut Jason Peters
* Re-sign Nigel Bradham
* Trade down from the #32 overall 1rst round pick to get a 2nd and 3rd
* Use the draft picks to add depth at WR, RB, TE, DT and OT

Then I repeat....

I would trade Curry, not cut him. We could get t least a 3rd for him, I think.

I'd ideally keep Curry, but at a reduced salary if possible.

Blount is an interesting one because the running game was successfull using both mules pounding the ball. Ajayi concerns me with his health. Of course the cap is an issue so unless we can manage a trade here or cut players, resigning him will be difficult. As for the draft, I want the OL depth, especially at the LT.

Cut Celek? Does that give us a good amount of cap space?

I read something on BGN today with the idea to have Celek sign off on stretching next years $5M across two years and free up 2.5 this year. Why would he? Because if he wants to continue to play he is likely going to want to go wire to wire as an Eagle if at all possible, and I can’t see him making too much more on the open market at his age. For us, I think it gives a bridge to whoever they draft at TE....because I think they will need that (ie Burton will get a deal elsewhere).

I think he, Peters and Sproles are candidates for this approach. Restructure and stay where you’ve always wanted to be at your whole career.

Only thing I’m certain on is Smith is cut. His deal was written for this and gives us a full $5M right there. Time for Hollins to get the reps as the jet receiver.

Like I've told you guys for two off-season now. The cap is easy to work around. Have no fear.

Blount played this past season on a $1.25 million contract. I could see him coming back one more season if he doesn't get a big offer somewhere. Ditto Chris Long.

Celek won his championship so he can happily wonder off into retirement.
Peters is simply too expensive to keep. He finally has a ring so he too can retire/cut.
Blount and Bradham need to be re-signed.
C. Graham or Peterson should be brought back.
Smith... adios.
Curry could be trade bait.
Foles stays unless the offer is stupid crazy. He has earned it.
I would take a long hard look at all the LBers. Hicks can't stay healthy so a quality backup is needed.

where were these reassurances, when we were passing 10+ mil dollars of unused cap into future seasons instead of using it to improve the roster??? My how some have changed.
