48-47 Whittaker seems like the right call. But I wouldn't have been surprised if Romero got a 10-8 round & the fight ended with with 47-47 draw.

Since the new 10-8 rounds, definitely one should have been. What else could possibly qualify? Its not possible. If this was the first event of the 10-8 round there are two of those. I just dont understand this decision.

Also, that sucks that Robert did not have a title fight win.

The 5th round should have definitely been a 10-8. But in the end, it really doesn't matter. Romero missed weight which means no belt on the line. And Romero's purse is guaranteed, minus the missing weight fine. Meaning that he is not on a show/win contract.

The same with Whittaker, his purse is guaranteed. So if he lost, he is still paid in full & retains his belt.

I am just happy we got to watch a great fight after the weight cutting fiasco.

It also sheds light on the scoring nonsense. Which is starting to become ridiculous, its every event now.

Scoring is never going to fundamentally change due to the need to have to get every state commission on board in an individual basis. It's a big mess.
