Benson was impressive. Good luck to him - other than the week we play the Lions. (Or the two weeks he plays the Packers) ;)

Trinity was one of DC's favorites.

Pretty good return for an undrafted free agent. I thought he might be our backup for Hamler.

Trading for the Griffith is a sign of what we thought of our special teams. I think this hurts Barrington Wade's chance of making the roster.

The trade with the Lions could mean that 5th and 7th may be closer to a 4th and 6th.

with our ST so bad you can’t cut Spenser.

now McManus just needs to kick the ball out of the end zone and trade for the backup rams punter.

that was some impressive punting last Saturday

Spencer doesn't really help us with kickoff and punt coverage but yes, Spencer is our clear best return option and it isn't even close.

I think one of the key elements of trading Benson away is that our top 4 WR's are pretty well set and we feel really good about them so we save a roster spot in having a 6th WR who is buried with not much wiggle room barring an injury to jump the depth chart plus we get essentially a pick back for a guy who has been on our roster 3 years who has never taken a regular season snap and was undrafted. It's like a freebie.

Plus we will also likely have 2 of not 3 decent WR options on the PS with Cleveland, Seth Williams and perhaps a 3rd. We may carry as many as 3 WR's on the PS but most likely 2. Why not take a pick for him when you factor in all of this? He deserves a shot somewhere. He as earned it.

Again- I don't think we get value for Tim Patrick in a trade. That is my take on Patrick. Plus with all the injuries we have had at WR he is very dependable. No way do I give up Patrick for a 4th or 5th and no way do we get a 2nd or 3rd for him. His value in return for a trade just isn't worth what he gives us, IMO.

I have this feeling that with Benson we see a guy who does well in camp every year but it doesn't appear we are high enough on him to think he can develop into any prominent role for us here long term so we are taking what we can for him. It's like a freebie.

He has done well in camp for 3 years now but we never signed him to the active roster and now everyone was able to see with their own eyes that he produced in game action this year so he has trade value. He is just stuck here in a situation where he doesn't have a lot of room to move up. It's like doing well at your job but being stuck in a situation where you have little growth for moving up. 2 years ago he would have had a role. I think Denver is basically saying you aint KJ Hamler but you can play in this league.

Plus Tim Patrick - is a very good downfield blocker - his block was big in springing Gordon for 15 yards in the Rams game.

He has also been good on special teams coverage units.

Both great points. Patrick really does a lot that doesn't show much in the stat book. We need to keep him this year. If we lose him in the offseason then fine. I'd rather have him this year in a role then taking a mid round pick for him. Just not worth it, IMO. His value in a trade isn't worth it, IMO.

LOL - Which is why Benson got traded. Being taller probably helps as well for Patrick.
