Keith Pompey reports that the Sixers have brought in Zydrunas Ilgauskas to mentor Embiid.

While not as athletic as Embiid, big Z had the same type of injury and was able to have an effective career for the Cavaliers. He's not a small guy, by any means. Suffered his injury five games into the 99-00 season. Missed that year and next. Played 62 games in the 2002 season, then at least 73 games in the next 6 seasons.

Hopefully it'll be on the less serious side of the injury, either way, I'd be happy to see them out there as a nice Christmas present in December. Hopefully you don't also get stuck with a back to back where Embiid sits.

Surgery and three months recovery.
Just need to make sure he doesn't need additional surgeries.
If it's acute, and not a stress fracture, I believe that's better.

I don't know about that. I think they probably want to leave that option open. Simmons is the most anticipated player in Philadelphia sports in a long time. Putting out a time frame is just setting him up for criticism. If he returns sooner than the stated time frame, they're rushing him back. If he returns later than the state time frame, then something must be wrong and his career will never be the same.

It's best to not have any expectations at all and just let him come back when he's ready.

We'll get heavier doses of Saric and Sergio than originally expected. Maybe that will be ok. It kind of screws up my whole "Let's wait and see which big men gel with Ben the best" philosophy.

The problem with Durant was that the screw they inserted started rubbing against an adjacent bone and caused the subsequent surgery. I would imagine they are aware of this and will do everything they can to perform the surgery as efficiently as possible.

If he has to take a few trips to Qatar, so be it.

Conservatively, three months to ensure his health, so I would expect him to play in the new year, barring any setbacks.

Just started a franchise on NBA. Put Noel on the trade block and got an offer of Khris Middleton and swapping 2017 first rounders with the Bucks. I did it for shits and gigs. Middleton is a nice complement to Simmons.
