Landry was a PPR machine in Miami and unless Cleveland is going to go with a deep pass offense I see no reason for him to have less then 80 receptions.

Gordon can and will put up Julio Jones numbers, but can you ever trust him to be there a full season.

I would go with Landry.

Landry for me. He'll have at least 30 more catches than Gordon and that 30 points is going to tough to make up.

Would it?? Landry is not a TD guy. Gordon is. That is 5 more TDs. If you are any bit high on Gordon you would have to assume he would be near 5 more TDs than Landry.

Landry and it's not even close. Gordon is one dumb mistake away from a lifetime ban.

This. Its probably pretty close if all you're doing is protecting a stat line given they play 16 but that's ignoring a huuuuuuuuuuuge red flag on Gordon.

yep, agreed with the others. Its more about Gordon being an idiot than which is the better player (which is Gordon and it ain't close)

It’s true that Gordon is one slip from being banned permanently, so he’s a big risk. Not sure how Laundry does on anew team, different system, QB and better WR Corp. Think I take Gordon and hope he breaks out. If he does, he’ll be a great trade chip, because Gordon lovers are still out there, but it’s a gamble for sure.

My thoughts are either player is your Wr 3 or flex

even as/if Gordon's potential Td catches even up the point count when compared to Landry's ppr points i think that you would have to lean to the steady point producer (Landry)

now if which ever player kept is permanently in the line up then the choice is certainly more difficult (as the year end point total may be quite equal)

with all that being said i too think Gordon's risk factor has Landry being the right choice

I’d probably go Gordon because I’m a risk taker and Gordon is high risk, but he could be the best WE in fantasy football this year. Landry will be a good wr 2 in fantasy. Yeah, Gordon might make a mistake, but he also might be drafted as a wr 2 and be the best wr taken in the draft. I don’t think that’s a possibility for Landry.

I think people are underestimating manziell’s influence on Gordon while he was in Cleveland. I don’t think their new qb is going to party with Gordon. I also think Gordon knows there’s no more second chances for him and will quit the banned substances all together.

Personally would take Landry but fully understand the allure of going Gordon for the upside

If you need steady contribution, Landry, if you need to hit a HR, Gordon

The thing about steady in fantasy is unless you are consistently great, you can just play matchups and get similar to better contribution.

Landry is a PPR machine, but he doesn’t get the yards or the TDs. So if you have depth on your roster you may not even need to start too often. Gordon with his big play skills Will almost always be the better matchup play.

So really it depends on the league size. I think in a 10-12 team league I would always rather Gordon. But in a 16 team league I would rather Landry. 14 is a toss up.

Also, the upside is so great with Gordon that you may just get something more. We know what Landry is.

I know the pro-Gordon camp is hoping he can repeat what he did 2 years ago.
But the pieces and acquisitions Cleveland made in the off season tells me that even the Browns have prepared for the backup plan - an offense that isn't dependant on him.

Absolutely true. But we are comparing him to his partner in crime on the same team!!!

Gordon will draw the double teams, meaning that Taylor will make the safe throws - Landry all the way.

How about Corey Coleman and duke Johnson. Don’t you think they will hurt Landry. Who is there to hurt Gordon??

I draft conservatively.
I'm also a numbers/trends bean counter.
I don't doubt Gordon has the talent and ability.
But he is a 1-hit wonder to me.
One great season. That's it.
Maybe it's not fair.
Maybe I'm wrong.
But he has shown me zero that he can duplicate that magical season.
Plus he's on the edge of oblivion.
Landry is safer and will be around longer.

oh... i 100% agree that landry is safer... and that there is a lot of risk in drafting Gordon... I will likely not get either because i am lower than most on both... and you know someone will always draft Gordon early...

but my point is entirely that in a 12 or less team league both are probably WR 3s... at that point, i would rather get the player that CAN become a WR1 or at least a WR2... and in a 12 or less you likely have decent replacements to play matchups...

In a 16 team league, i would absolutely rather have Landry for the safety... But how safe is landry?? new team, new QB, more competition for his role...

landry might be a PPR monster, but his yards and TDs are not great, and last year when he got 9 TDs, you have to remember that Parker went down, and he became the number one...

When you swing for the fences, you tend to strike out a lot.

I've said it before but I think the best thing CLE did was let Todd Haley run the offense. He's a better OC than anything Landry had in MIA.
