Good game last night. I thought Price taking Feldman out when he did was the right decision. He was pretty much done in the 6th, but got out of it. I don't think he would have gotten out of the 7th.
Price tends to tightrope it with his pitchers. I think he likes the idea of a reliever coming in to a clean inning. That's great but when it takes a DP ball to save your ass, it's one of those 'how'd he do that?' moments. Feldy seems to always have one inning that wrecks his game. Used to see that a lot with Mike Leake.

Does anyone know why Price double switched, and took Schebler out of the game last night. He's one of the hottest hitters on the team. Didn't make sense to me. Also your putting the pitcher between the 4 and 6 hitters in the batting order.
Unless Schebler was hurt.

The ongoing theory is that the manager affects fewer than 5 games a year.
I think this was one of the 5.

Double switching for Schebler after the 5th inning was Price throwing in the towel.

Then Suarez bails him out by hitting the 3-run homer and what does the dip shit do? He puts the pitcher in Suarez's spot. Now you're in a tie game and have Schebler and Suarez out of the game with 2 innings remaining.

Two straight games of giving the Cleveland bullpen a blown save. The only two their bullpen has given up this season.

Zack Cozart has had some big hits lately. He's having one helluva free agent contract year.

Another guy that doesn't get a lot of credit is Tucker Barnhart.

He's been in the middle of a lot of this team's late inning rallies. Working a walk or getting base a hit, he's set the table several times.

I had the game on Gameday last night, paying attention just a little after the rain delay. Saw the top of the 9th, first two guys on, then an out. Hamilton comes up, and GD says "ball in play out (s). " Then it flashed double play on the bottom, so I clicked it off, went about my business. An hour or so later, clicked on Red Reporter (great blog btw) and it was going on and on about how Hamilton had scored from first on a single.

I thought, "ha, fake news!"

I have always been high on Barnhart, moreso than a lot of people who seem to still view him as a fill-in.
I would have to go back a very long time to the days when Ed Bailey was the Reds top catcher. The backup for him at the time was Smokey Burgess.

Sometimes Hamilton can be frustrating. But he is the most explosive exciting player in the game at times. If he would ever learn to bunt. (ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE TEAM) He could maybe be the best player in the game.

The Reds as a team have to be the worst in the league at bunting' every time a sacrifice situation comes up, you just hope they just make one out, or the other team makes a mistake. Normally it's an easy out by the lead runner, sometimes it's a double play. I don't know who on the Reds coaches that but he ain't getting it done

I would not be opposed to putting a

NO BUNTING ALLOWED sign in the dugout.

The Reds are running out of beds in the infirmary. Amir Garrett to the 10 DL for a hip injury.

They claimed Jake Buchanan off waivers.... so yeah, they're getting desperate. He's got a couple cups of coffee at the MLB level, but wasn't having a good year in the minors for the Cubbies.

I'd like to see Asher Wojciechowski, let's just call him Wojo. I forget what I was going to say by the time I could spell his name. Anyway, the guy is a former #1 pick who never impressed, but he was pitching well at Louisville and it carried over to his long relief outing in his only appearance for the Reds.

Maybe the old bull can provide some milk for a team with a beleaguered rotation.
It may be easier to get milk from a bull than to get a quality start from a Reds SP.

One of you might have to go out there and pitch. Rotation is in complete disarray. This is bad. Really fucking bad.

Pitching was not supposed to be a strong point but it was not supposed to have Bronny and Feldy as the staff aces. Geez, the 1962 Mets had more options than this.

Wojo was a no go.

Adleman gives the team 8 shutout innings and it still comes down to the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth.

The Phillies lineup has some woeful batting averages.

Not a lot of scoring opportunities for either team, but the Reds still put up another 5 runs. The offense has consistently given this team a chance to win.
