Yes, his comments were something along the line of;
"Joe Gibbs never asked me if I wanted to drive a Toyota. I only drive Chevy's!".
And the next year he was (semi) independent.

That's all it comes down to. If I was a team owner, there is no way in hell I would rather run Roush/Yates motors over Hendrick motors if it was strictly my money.

With this news, it wouldn't surprise me to see RCR go to 4 teams next year, adding Ty Dillon. Chevy is going to have much more money to allocate.

They kept this pretty tight lipped. Gene Haas has invested more into the team over the last couple of years wanting to be more independent. In the past, they pretty much got everything from Hendrick. Slowly they got to where they did their own suspension, shocks, engineering, bodies and only got engines and chassis from Hendrick. This goes in line with that direction Haas wants. Ford gave them enough money to where SHR will expand further, build their own chassis and expand their own R&D.

I'm sure ford will put up the money to take anything away from Chevy.

It is shocking, with the way Roush cars have been running, not sure I would switch. But Penske has been running solid. I would say has a lot to do with $$$$

I think that's more of an indicator of talent and Roush is really lacking in that department right now.
