... And then they wonder why this was the WORST playoffs ever hands down, talent and motivation in the NBA are at an ALL TIME LOW.. 98 percent of teams are pure crapola who purposely TANK Seasons.

If I get 23M for a season just to show up, what Incentive is there exactly??

Anyone?

The only legitimate "non corporate, tell it the way it is" analyst/Commentator Barkley has mentioned this time and time again.. What Motivation is there for these kids today when they get big contracts and payouts for doing NOTHING

I can make 23M a year just showing up to practice and playing grab ass while leading my team to lottery.

Come on now.. Its time to re-evaluate the salary situation and make your players EARN their worth for once.

Didn't you just say all the offseason improvements mean the Ws aren't a lock to win anymore? :L

Not with The West going on steroids with their teams. But if you're a SHITTY team like the Sixers who need changes from top to bottom give that kind of money to a guy thats not that good? Stupid.

And no... Warriors aren't a lock anymore with a significant improvement in the West. So they could have waited giving Curry Fort Knox

Every word in this post is wrong, including 'and' and 'the'.

Great signing by the Sixers
They need shooters and Redick is also a good veteran presence

A shooter and good veteran preference is NOT worth 23mil for a season . Only elite superstars are. And Redick sure as hell isn't one

OP isn't aware of the effect of the TV deal on the salary cap and the inflation of salaries in all sports.

In 1980 Nolan Ryan was the first player in any sport to get paid $1 mil per year. The press went apeshit on the out of control salaries.

One reason old guys like Barkley and others are so salty about the game today is they never got paid nearly the $ they do now. Just a matter of timing. In 5 years someone will get $50 mil per. In 10 years $60 per. It's just reality.

Only a 1 year deal
Sixers have a ton of cap space
And Redick is going to make the Sixers better
Not championship contender better but they are going to be a surprising team this year and Redick is going to be a part of that improvement

This is a win all around for everyone involved

You are mistaken, according to Dorian Redick is just going to play grab ass and lead the team to the lottery.

Also, 98% of the teams are pure crapola and trying to tank, so 1 in 50. And since there's only 30 teams all of them are.

He's really knowledgeable about basketball.

The Sixers announced publicly that they were only looking for one year deals.

They can afford to overpay two players on one year contracts and still be setup for 2018 FA.
Redick goes to the East and joins a team that can potentially generate a lot of open shots.
Think of it this way, if he does really well, has a great time and signs a 2/20 deal next year, it's basically a 3/43 deal. They have to reach the salary floor and only have room for one or two FA, though they can maneuver some pieces around.

Great signing.

Soo... Lets sign a non-elite player for 23 mil, team still FAILS to make the playoffs or loses in the first round (in a conference that is already on life support and be even more PATHETIC next year compared to the West) , thats more "knowledgable" I guess.:L:L:L:L:L:L

If you're team is just headed to the shitter with a flush, maybe well just bring in female JV high schoolers, After all, the toilet is the toilet

Sure, it's an overpay, but it's a one year deal. That is the reason for the overpay. Otherwise a player who could get a multiple year deal wouldn't sign a one year deal. The Sixers have to spend money anyways, and they had a lot of space. The team improved while not impacting their future cap.

A good deal by both parties.

The only reason giving this guy actual knowledge isn't a total waste of time is his replies are so stupid and funny. I can't wait....

I'll also add that Reddick could likely be a nice trade chip at the deadline if it's obvious the Sixers have no shot at the playoffs. He is the type of player, a shooter, contending teams overpay to acquire.

Thats a drastic decrease!

It's one year. It's not like it's some ridiculous long term deal.

1 season dude.

This contract is 1000x better than Mozzy or Deng, Noah, etc.

They had to overpay because they didn't want to commit for multiple years. Good for Reddick, and great for the 6ers because they get all that cap space back next year. Philly is must see TV in 2017, and try have a good shot at the playoffs if they can stay healthy.
