He's not really wrong with how Manfred is killing off baseball. You can't start the season earlier and end it later just so they can have more off days. The MLBPA won't go for it but Manfred can't change the game to appeal to the ADD crowd while still keeping it to where only 42 games matter for baseball teams.

He's right. And also he said the players would have to take less money to accomplish this. The season keeps getting longer and longer. I'd be fine with 148-154 games, playing 8-10 doubleheaders and shortening the season by 3-4 weeks

It is worth noting that 162 has worked for about 60 years. The trick is to not change the platform. When it's too cold to play, just postpone the game and play it later. No great thought went into that.

If the cock suckers would stop stepping out after every pitch and games returned to 2 hours they could go back to playing double headers and have more days off.

I totally agree with Anthony. (not just because I'm a CUB fan) I'm in favor of getting rid of at least 12 regular season games.
There is absolutely no reason to be playing the World Series in November....especially in northern cities.
In that way, they could start the season later and end it earlier.
And playing 19 games against inter divisional teams is stupid.

Rizzo wants fewer games: 'We play too much'

You are whining about playing baseball for a living, you fucking stooge? Take a look at your house and your car and your bank account and quit wasting our time with this nonsense.

Well... I think he and others get PAID too much. But if he's willing for a 'pay cut' for a shorter season then... If not, then STFU and play ball like you're paid to do.

If you shorten the season then you deeply effect the businesses around Wrigley and other places that depend on baseball for their income. Taking 20 games off of an 81-game schedule at a given park gives the surrounding businesses 20 fewer days to make ends meet.

Add a roster spot. Have 6 man rotations and play day/night double headers on saturdays

No one is suggesting going to a 122 game season. 154 used to be how it was, let's try that. 5% less games, 5% lower salaries.

ball players, hate, day / night double headers

TV wouldn't want it. TV announcers don't like it. And TV viewers don't want to watch two games in a day.......and that means TV sponsors won't like it. ........money........TV ......big deal......uh oh

Well, the 20 don't come off the home schedule. They come off the home and road schedule, but yeah ... in many cases, the whole of a ballpark is part of a development capital project to restore, gentrify and monetize, all that shit. Downtown Cincy is built around Reds and Bengals games, where the ballparks are next to each other. It's quite nice, actually. Wrigleyville without the Cubs is a slum neighborhood, which is overstating it. But it's amazing on game days.

I don't like the idea of getting rid of games because that will completely bag the idea of any of the records from ever falling.

It's easy for Rizzo to say that he'd take a pay cut.

I imagine the minor league guy that's up and down 4 times a season and maybe gets lucky enough to amass 300k in salary before he is eventually replaced by a better player. That guy isn't going to want 18 games banged off the schedule.

But is that enough to make the type of difference in the way the body feels that Rizzo is talking about? Seems like it would have to be a more substantial reduction than that.

Still don't like to hear him whining about it. I'd play Center Field for the Giants right now for the salary I make now. They might not like the product they get but I'd play for my salary in a heart beat.
I'd go to games and boo you and throw empty syringes at you (even though it is clear you aren't juicing)

that is the best catalyst of the division....I like playing 19 games in the division. You have to beat you divisional rivals to win the division. I think I used the word division too much, but you got my drift. STOP inter-league games and keep the focus on divisional play...there I said it again.
