As manager of Fan Developement. What kind of bogus title is that? Is Flake out hiring all his old buddies? What next? Steve McKenna hired as manger of Seat Numbers? What in the world is a manger of Fan Developement?

I really have no problem with this and not sure why anyone else does either. Sean O'Donnell was very well liked in both his times here and is a great person to have in charge of something like this. If it means more interactions with then fans and the players, its even better for all of us.

It's definitely geared towards attracting new fans to the game.

For die hards like us (me anyway), I no longer attend fan fests, jersey signings, player appearances, etc. I just don't have the time and while I love the Kings I am not as invested as I was just say 5 years ago (see kids, no time).

So I agree it is good for getting new fans but to old timers like us it's a joke.

I dunno, ive been a Kings fan my whole life and I don't see it as a joke.

You just have kids now and a family so you don't have time for that kinda stuff which is perfectly understandable. Doesn't mean you should degrade it just because you don't have times for stuff like that.

I'd rather wait and see what he does before making fun of it.

I just don't subscribe to the "attract new fans" line of thought. You're either a fan or you're not, and if you come from a family that watches the Kings - and the odds of that are very high here in SoCal seeing that they've been here for almost half a century - you'll know whether or not you like it.

Of course there are exceptions, and I can see where a guy like O'Donnell would come into play. I also agree that he was great for the Kings every time he was here and will be now.

I just look at these former player hires, especially by other former teammates, as a nepotism kind of thing more than anything. They also seem to happen in LA more than anywhere I can think of in the last 10 years or so.

"Oh hey Robbie, I'm bored off my ass and I need a job. Can you help me?"

"Sure can Odie..."

I'm just bitter Blake hired him, if someone else did I'd be OK with it probably. I just look at how Nelson Emerson was crappy as a player here and somehow ended up in the back office for the last 10+ years because he's Bowlby's buddy and not a damn soul in the world really knows what he does or what value he brings.

As far as Hockey Fest goes it was added to the Kings off season to get people talking/thinking/breathing hockey early. I think the Kings are smart about this. Look at the Ducks. They thought winning the cup would keep the fans coming back. They dont do these parties for fans. Their fans forget about them. They have empty sections at games. Kings have fans through good times and bad. I look at these events as the team remembering the fans

I think you care a little to much about that kinda stuff though, lol.

Emerson helps the coaching staff, from what I understand be basically goes over games and puts together things to show the coaching staff things he notices during a game from players. Bad or good plays to bring to the coaches so they can help develop the players.

Seems like its really helped.

I guess you have a problem too with Sutter and Robitille bringing in their old buddy Bernie Nichols to help out as well?

Modry will become the "LA community skate conductor", which might be good as we just might find some people that he can skate past

More like the Hot Dog Toss target, like when celebs sit in the dunk tank and you have to hit the bulls eye to sink them.

In my version, the whole object is to launch as many as you can, loaded with onions, relish, ketchup, mustard and jalapenos, at him in 30 seconds while he in an enclosed box.

No, and I'll tell you why - Nicholls is not on payroll:

LA Kings Staff Directory - Los Angeles Kings - Team

He is not an official member of their staff and did that when they approached him because Kompon's PP sucked balls with no solution in sight.

He wasn't in it for the money or any other reason except to help the Kings. He wasn't brought in to fluff the Kings, he was brought in to help them win.

I suppose you have a point there, but I did also point out what Emerson does.

Emerson falls under the Player Development tab of the staff, but I'd be very curious to find out what specifically he does.

Player development could be something extremely important (Jan Vopat - the Kings' European scout) all the way to the Gatorade guy (player development - they are thirsty).

My gut tells me Emerson's job really isn't all that important.

Your gut says that because you personally didn't like the guy as a player.

They have actually talked about exactly what he does on the staff, and my post said exactly what it is he does.

Man, you sure to hold grudges against players for a long time, lol.

Kompon sucks balls and has back to back trophies. He is building a resume to envy. Just dont look at the numbers and all is good. If he gets canned and moved to another team that can win despite him being there Pucky may take a drive in Venice.

His numbers are atrocious, but the man has a knack for being in the right place at the right time.He was pretty ineffective in LA overall while the team was being built, and the Kings won the Cup despite his efforts to put arguably the worst PP unit in the league out there.

The Kings are just fortunate they played a solid team game and didn't rely on the PP to bail them out. Otherwise they would have been in deep trouble.

I do know however from Kompon's time here, his PP was the difference in a loss many times when a game was on the line. They just couldn't get a goal almost all the time when they needed it. Get a few of those, and the Kings get some more wins throughout the season avoiding a low seed.

If he gets canned and moved to another team that can win despite him being there Pucky may take a drive in Venice.

Brutal, just heard today was happened.

Didn't an older gentleman do something similar a few years back? Pretty sure he was sentenced to prison as well, I want to say he was in his late 70s. This guy just sounded like a basket case.
