I think it's a low percentage move by the Saints as they would like Meredith over Snead who is also a RFA IIRC. I don't think it's a coincidence per se, I just think the two organizations are likely to evaluate talent in similar ways.

2 steps forward 1 step back. I can't see us not matching. This is a no brain'r to me. This is Pace's ufa find so he has a personal investment too.

I don't really understand that narrative. It isn't advantageous for New Orleans in any way to "help us".

We could have simply offered Meredith 2 years/10 million ourselves - if that is what Pace and the FO wanted. Clearly, he would have signed on the dotted line. lol

Yeah, it's more likely the FO's just evaluate talent similarly than anything else.

Yeah, I was about to add that as well. Pace learned player value and evaluation within that organization. Not a shock that they brush shoulders every once in a while.

The consensus seems to be that Kirk will be gone in the 1st and Sutton is the one who could be floating around. At least, from what I've read.

However, I'd really just assume match the offer sheet and focus on OL/defense in the draft.

Unless they know something we don't about his recovery, this is a no-brainer. Sign the kid, and at the very least, we go into the season with a semblance of depth at WR.


I like Meredith, I think he was an up-and-comer before going down. Get him while he's still cheap, and that Offense starts to look fairly formidable. Robinson, Meredith, Gabriel, Burton and Shaheen, with Howard and Cohen in the backfield...with Nagy's system...Trubisky must be champing at the bit.

And now that the numbers have been fleshed out in a bit more detail, we learn that only $5.4 mil is guaranteed. This is the no-brainer of no-brainers as far as matching the contract goes. The one caveat tho is, as Rich alluded, if there is something wrong with Meredith that no one but the Bears are aware. But then again, if that's the case, why bother even tendering any type of contract, why not just release him? I have to think that by the time this weekend pans out Meredith will remain a Bear. Maybe they're all watching the Masters and don't have time for any silly contract signings.

NO helped us by setting a fair price for 2 years. I don't think helping us was their plan but it works out that way. I believe they set the price by what they can afford, and they could not afford to overpay in a attempt to steal him away.

Before an injured player is signed by another team,such as Meredith,I thought it was a rule that these players had to take a physical...........
