Not yet. If they haven’t signed Scherff long term before they have paid his fifth year option, then it will be the same idiotic mistake...and I expect them to make it.
And with the 5th pick in the NFL draft...Scherff will be a long term Redskin, book it.

Well - Coach kind of made this pt in another reply but in a negative manner. Fact is that Cousins new way of signing contracts basically short term may change contracts forever & this just doesn't apply to the Redskins. It may not simply be a "mistake" by the Skins but rather Scherff looking at his options in an entirely different light. Oh well - we live in an ever changing world.

Yeah...never...ever...ever. You don’t seem to understand every time we went to KC, we tried to screw him.

Off the top of my head, in just the last couple of years, the following players have signed extensions...Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, and Derek Carr.

With just a little research, Larry Fitzgerald signed an extension in November, Deandre Hopkins signed an extension in September, Karan Short and Desmond Trufant signed extensions last April, and there are plenty more but I a more sick of proving this point.

Again, it is unlikely KC has changed anything except maybe how teams treat their own players. Perhaps, more free agents will look for short term contracts. The key is, take care of your own.

April 16, Erik Kendricks extended.

April 12, Jarvis Landry extended.

Kendrick was not going to get von Miller money

Andrew Norwell just signed a deal worth 13.3 mil per season.

Brandon Scherff was not going to be a FA next season. He was under contract for 2018, and we just exercised he year 5 option which will pay him 12.5 million in 2019.

He wouldn’t be a FA until 2020 where he will easily cost 15 million per season.

Drew Brees did get KC like money and could have had more. 25 mil extension is KC like money.

Big time players like Jarvis Landry?

Agree to disagree. I am not stating that there still won't be extensions but rather that players will now look at things differently & some (not necessarily most) will bet on themselves & either look at shorter deals or demand more from their extensions. I also have to believe that this will have some impact on the next CBA since NFL players are treated so poorly financially in comparison to other sports (some of it their own doing).

We will see.
