Redskins coach Jay Gruden is aiming for Adrian Peterson to play in Friday's preseason game against the Broncos.

Peterson impressed Tuesday at his first Redskins practice, drawing praise from Gruden, who said the 33-year-old looked to be in "fantastic physical shape." Obviously Peterson is still learning Gruden's offensive scheme but if the veteran can "get up to speed," he could see a handful of reps in Friday night's dress rehearsal. At worst, the 33-year-old will share a committee role with Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine (when healthy).

It's easy to dismiss this but AP only had 4 games all last year with more than 14 Carrie's and in 3 of those games he got 80, 125 and 160 yards respectively. I lean towards him being done but it wouldn't shock me if hes not

Since week 11 of 2015, Adrian Peterson has had 4 100+ yard rushing games. That's 4 100 yard games in nearly 3 seasons. Even more staggering is that in that exact same time frame, he has just 9 40+ yard games. Scroll all the way back to the beginning of 2014 (the year he was suspended) and he has just 9 100+ yard games. Indeed he likely would have done alright had he played in 2014, but that was also 1 less year of wear and tear from an NFL season. Yes he was injured for 2016, but he was ineffective up until that injury and the effects of the injury itself can't be completely ignored either.

That's 9 100+ yard games in the past four years, folks. As far as the extreme recent past goes, he's got 2 100 yard games in 2017, and that number holds through all the way back to week 16 of 2015 for his next most recent one. Also since the start of 2015 - 13 TD's, 11 fumbles. Plus 3 season ending injuries since 2011, including 2 on his knees.
