Tonight at 7:00 it will be Dempster (4.67 ERA with zero CGs this year) against 28
year old Todd Richard Redmond (4.22 ERA) who will be making his
7th career major league start.

Richmond was with Cincinnati last year, appearing in only 1 game with a 10.80 ERA

He's bounced around in the Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Baltimore farm systems, so is apparently
only a borderline MLB player.

Tomorrow night it will be Lester against Josh Johnson. 29 years old, spent his 1st 8 seasons with
the Marlins, for whom he started 154 games, 826 total innings.

3 walks/9innings for his career against 8.3 Ks, a career WHIP of 1.268 career but 1.660 this season.

Don't know yet who the probables are for the 3rd game of the series.

The Toronto pitcher's last name is REDmond, not RICHmond.

Sorry for the error.

We're winning the pitch count battle even if we haven't scored yet.

It would take Redmond 207 pitches to get through 9 innings at his current pace.

29 pitches thrown by Dempster through 3 innings, 61 for Redmond.

So far so good!

Still winning the pitch count battle despite the score. 61 pitches by Dempster compared to 110 for the two
Toronto pitchers.

Lester goes for his 12th win of the season and 96th of his career tonight, in the 2nd game of the series.

His scheduled opposing starter is 28 year old Dominican Esmil Rogers. In his 5th MLB season, he first 3 spent
in Colorado, last year split between Colorado and Cleveland. He was traded to Toronto in the off-season
for ex Red Sox player Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes, who I don't recall having ever heard of before.

Rogers comes into tonight with 334 1/3 career innings pitched, no CGs or shutouts, 407 hits allowed, 135 walks,
280 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.635. Stats from Baseball-Reference.com - MLB Stats, Standings, Scores, History.

Does seem like we should be heavily favored by the linemakers tonight, doesn't it?

I have a tendency to root for underdogs, tonight, if the line is what I expect it to be, I will NOT want an upset!

Announcers talking about the various HOF's reminded me of how disappointing to me the Cooperstown
HOF was when I was there back in the '70s. Dinky place with exhibitions much less interesting thanI had expected, and the room with the plaques an even bigger disappointment.

Could be different now, but the town was a lot nicer than the Hall in 1973.

Enough of that, back to the game!

Tonight, Jake Peavy with his 1.417 season WHIP against Mark Buehrle, 1.324 this season.

Peavy's career WHIP is 1.173, Buerhle 1.276.

Let's hope tonight the career numbers prevail over the season numbers.

StRays are hosting hosting Seattle tonight while Sinstripes are hosting the Angels.

So I'll be pulling for the visitors in both.

Who's with me on this?

Good to see Lavarnway catching tonight.

We don't want Salty getting too tired or Lavarnway getting rusty.

WINNING TIME, RED SOX!

Would be a bit ironic if Kawasaki rode a Harley-Davidson, wouldn't it? :laugh3:

We're putting more men on base than Toronto is.

Count those, not the number stranded, okay?

Now 11 Red Sox base-runners to only 3 for Toronto.

Why do people fail to understand that that's GOOD for us even if we have stranded most?

IF we end up losing this game it will be because Peavy tired and Breslow didn't get his job done.

NOT because of the men LOB!
