Saturday : Cole Hamels ( 1-2, 5.06 era) vs. Charlie Morton ( 2-0, 0.00 ERA)

Sunday: big sexy ( 0-0, 1.64 era) vs. Justin Verlander ( 2-0, 1.45 ERA)

Note : we have the misfortune of having 2 of these games on national TV so I hope rooster has the boys ready to play as much as possible.

Unfortunately we face gerritt Cole who has been dominant so far this year.

I just wanted to make sure the game thread didn’t get put up after first pitch like it did for the angels series.

If we play well, we can't lose. Scores don't mean as much as a solid outing does. No one in their right mind knows this purple heart rebuilding group is expected to match up with Houston. Play well and take advantage of the young guys getting playing time and bingo.....a winner.

FWIW I have no problem with seeing what we have in Guzman. I get moving Joey around has not done him any favors in the past but this season has been kind of wacky. Think once DeShields comes back there will be another lineup shuffle. Long term perhaps Gsllo is 3B any ways. Some have thought Mazara is better served at 1B as well.

I agree. Joey is that power hitting 1st baseman we've been needing for a long time. We don't need to move him around. Other options are out there and since we are not contending now is the time to find out what moves to make not to include Gallo.

Who is Eliezer Alvarez? I would drop him off the 40 man in favor of someone like Andy Ibanez, and let him play 2B and move Profar to SS and Robinson keep in CF, with Gallo in LF (sorry Rua) and Guzman at 1B

You're really taking a look at some guys there, maybe Rua can be a utility guy playing several times a week at various positions for rest and against LHPs (1B, 2B, 3B, COF)

I get the Guzman move in a vacuum but it doesn't really match up with the needs of the current roster & injury situation

Perhaps not but I don’t think they are even considering him much for the OF due to injury concern. I think we will see Gallo Beltre and Guzman all in the lineup the same time for the next couple of weeks with one at DH

I believe it was already stated he would be in the OF, probably LF and maybe Tocci in CF???? Wherever Gallo ends up, I bet it sticks until Odor gets back and maybe even until Andrus gets back depending on how guys are performing

Boy this lineup is rough around the edges but I sure hope we learn a lot about these guys in the next month or so

I'm willing to have a dumpster fire of a season as long as we're legitimately trying to learn about the young guys and not trash dump veterans

Young guys playing at least still make the season exciting
