The name may not jump out at you, but if you grew up listening to Lyell Bremser calling Husker football games on the radio you'd remember this guy's voice giving scores of other games.
He passed away over the weekend. There's not a news story posted on his passing yet, but this is one from when he retired from radio is very fitting.
Kelly: At 75, former KFAB broadcaster Tom Johnson is betting on retirement

Wasn't it Bremser calling the game, Johnson updating scores and Kent Pavelka on the sidelines? That's going back quite a ways in Husker broadcast history.

I'll always remember the real voice of the Huskers as I was growing up.

I don't recall Pavelka in the mix in the 70's. He may have been or in the 80's but I was off in the military for most of that time.

Like the story said I remember everything going silent when the "other scores of interest" were read off and the voice of Tom Johnson.

As a kid, Bremser on the 9v transistor radio was a part of my life every Saturday in the fall. At the fishing hole with my buddy, playing sand-lot football, shooting baskets in the driveway, etc.
