It was a mistake for Denver to pass on one of the top QB's available in the draft.

We’ll see. When you’re in “win now” mode a rookie QB sends the wrong message. This is a team that despite having a dismal 2017 is looking to compete in 2018. They upgraded at QB and made a pretty stout defense even scarier than it already was. Hard to argue with that.

Case Keenum isn't much of an upgrade in my opinion.

If you can look at his 2017 and compare it to the three headed monster we had at QB in Denver that year and still conclude he’s not much of an upgrade, I’ll simply have to acknowledge we won’t agree and move on.

Denver led the nfl in 3 and outs
Also the offense held the lead for a grand total of 3 minutes after game 3.
I think Keenum completed 67 % of his passes. Keenum is a huge improvement over last year not becuase Keenum is all pro but our QBs were the worst
The defense was 2 in rushing , 4 in passing so still a top defense Keenum Of last year can help propel this team to 10-6

To be fair, he probably did see the Cowboys/Broncos game which was probably 90% of the highlights of the entire year.

Then why did Denver draft an edge rusher?

Then why did Denver draft an edge rusher?

Because the 2nd most valuable position on a team is pass rusher. Throw in they might be looking at a mass exodus of the position after this upcoming season with Shaq being a RFA this year and free to sign anywhere next year and then Shane Ray struggling to stay healthy leading to the team not picking up his 5th year option. So the position needed more talent added to it. Also why not add to the strength of the team? Keep the defense strong.

They also spent a big chunk of their FA money on the offensive side of the ball. The needs heading into the offseason in big part were QB and RT for the offense. They obviously spent some money on Keenum then traded for Veldheer before the draft. I would also add that just because they used their top pick on a pass rusher doesn't mean they ignored the offense in the draft. Sutton was taken in the 2nd, Freeman in the 3rd, and Hamilton in the 4th. They also have players from last year's draft that didn't get to take a snap coming back in Jake Butt and Carlos Henderson.

It always amazes me how much people seem to focus so much on the 1st round alone and ignore the rest of the draft. Great talent can be found beyond the 1st round.

Also just as a showing of how bad the QB play was last year. They were 2nd in interceptions thrown, 2nd in total turnovers for the season with only Cleveland being worse, and the team had the 2nd worst turnover differential in the entire league.

Throw in the QB's were sacked 52 times this past year. Now you could point to the OL and say that is on them and part of that would be correct. The other part of that would be QB's that had no clue how to play from within the pocket and panicked when their first option wasn't open. I would put half those sacks at least on the QB's just not doing their job right.

The Broncos actually had a decent running game last year. Top half of the league. So even with teams being able to focus on stopping the run because the QB's couldn't do anything they still somewhat could move the ball a bit on the ground. Even average QB play would be one of the biggest upgrades in the NFL if that is what Keenum brings to the Broncos.

It's also called letting the draft come to you. Best. Player. Available. You can never have too many defensive players that can get after the quarterback.

Truth. If Chubb proves to be the 2nd best edge rusher on this team behind Miller he will be on the field at the same time as Miller. Had they drafted one of the top prospects at QB, and whoever that was proved to be the 2nd best QB on the roster behind Keenum then your top draft pick is spending the season holding a clipboard and talking into a headset. Seems a better use to get the guy who is likely going to have an immediate impact on the team’s performance.

They could have drafted Rosen.

No draft prospect is a sure thing. this is especially true of QB. Chubb was considered by many to be the closest to a sure thing in this year’s draft. With Keenum signed picking a player that is more likely to make an immediate impact was far more important. And I think it’ll prove the better decision.

Our first glimpse

At the 32-33 mark (lol) is that a toss sweep to Henderson with Janovich blocking out in front of him? I'm pretty sure it is. I keep playing it over and over again.
