BTW....Cole is a shutdown pitcher just a few bad pitches. Whereas Arrieta has been hot for way too long.

Who is a shutdown pitcher then? Arrieta, Bumgarner, who else?

Shut down pitcher is a pitcher that is in game/starts game that is expected too and does dominate game. This game was probably biggest game on stage for Cole and he struggled, Arrieta dominated.

That's a pretty nebulous definition, if Arrieta gives up 5 runs in game 7 of the World Series, is still a shutdown pitcher?

He won't give up 5 runs. I would lay $ on that. This dude is balls on

Welp Ramirez crushed that ball right at third base. Arrieta lucky he has given up 0 runs the past two innings. He doesn't seem to have much left.

Pirates 1-4 are better than the Cubs, easily. Crappy that the Cubs 1 is all time good.

Timely hitting helps pitchers in the playoffs to be "shutdown".

I hope that was the last AB for Alvarez for the Pirates.

Morse gets a hit, I repeat, there was no logical reason to start SRod over Morse.

Oh well, now I can shift my disappointed focus from our baseball team to our underachieving hockey team.
