Two things I noticed. Certain players are swinging for the moon with runners on base. A single would work just fine in those situations, or a ground ball or fly ball would at least advance the runners. Instead they are striking out.
Also I noticed that certain players are swinging at pitches that bounce in front of the plate.

When you have runners on base and in scoring positions, the simplest and most judicious thing to do then exactly that northeast: Advance the runners.

We have had this very bad habit, dating back to the days when lardass, Utley, and Rollins were here of swinging for the fences and missing, stranding runners when it was and is not exactly necessary to do so.

This is one of those team strategies that simply has not been cemented in our approach to winning over a very long time and we have paid a heavy price for it.
