Patriots trading Cooks to Rams, sources say

The New England Patriots are trading receiver Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams for the 23rd overall pick in this year's NFL draft, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

As part of the deal, New England also will send a 2018 fourth-round pick to Los Angeles, which will send a sixth-rounder back to New England.

Just over a year ago, New England acquired Cooks from the New Orleans Saintsfor their own first-round pick (No. 32 overall). The teams also swapped mid-round selections.

Rams get Cooks and the Patriots 4th round pick.

Cooks would be commanding at least $16M next year.

Good deal and the right time. Malcolm Mitchell appears to be healed and ready to come back. Ju;lian Edelman appears to be healthy. Chris Hogan will be back, as will Phillip Dorsett and Kenny Britt.

Draft capital wise, they borrowed Cooks for a year.

The rumors are flying that the Pats are trying to move pretty high up in the draft to get Josh Rosen. I don't think they have the draft capital to quite do that. They have a lot but that is a pretty big move up as I think they would have to get into the top-4.

I was thinking the same thing. I need to see who the experts believe will be available around #23.

I'm good with this. I never loved Cooks. It just seemed he didn't really want to fight for the ball.

With this move I hope BB and Gronk can kiss and make up. I don't want to see him leave now with Cooks gone.
