He does want to be a HC eventually, however he's quite happy where he is and now he's been given the opportunity to call the defensive plays which is really the last major step he needs to take before he might see some HC offers. I'd say he should be good for another couple of years anyway.

So who was calling them last year? Did he get demoted?

Coach K came forward on his own and volunteered to let Lake take over the play calling to prevent him from leaving. Probably the most selfless act I've ever seen any coordinator make.

He went to Petersen and said we are going to lose him if we don't do this, so let's do it and Petersen went with that.

All Kwiatkowski wants is to coach kids and win ball. This was HIS solution to continuing to keep the band together for a little longer.

Really just amazing.

Well that and I don't believe it meant any kind of reduction in salary for coach K so there's that.

I mean it's still pretty rare to see one willing to give up play calling even if their pay is the same.

Talk about a win anyway you look at it.

Those added funds =
No issues with salaries for fb staff.
The financial burdens with having to meet title IX reqs are mimimized to 0 impact for years to come
The commitments to paying off the stadium and fb facilities remodel project will never impact the AD budget.
Uncle Phil and his sleeze can take a hike.

Wow. Reports are the Nike deal was purposely a lowball offer of 88 mil over 11 years so it specifically wouldn't exceed the same deal they gave the Ducks last year. Duckies are already one of the most insecure fanbases on the planet. If Nike cut the obviously bigger deal required given the much larger fanbase with deeper pockets and stadium, it would of been triggered time at Nike U.

Bwhahahahahaha!!!! Huskies made out like kings on this deal. Buh bye Swoosh.

This should be interesting. I think the fact that the NCAA has tried so hard to have the case dismissed, may mean that they figure that they are going to lose.

Amazing, imo, that he's hung in there for 7 years too.

If the NCAA does lose, I wonder if it will have any effect on how they handle things going forward?

I have no faith the NCAA will change. They care more about protecting their money making ability with these players than if they actually get an education.
Reggie Bush one player getting payed on the side= max sanctions
UNC 100s of players in sham classes to keep them eligible= wet noodle to the face

You're probably right. While I think the NCAA tried as hard as they did to get this dismissed because they feel they are likely to lose, it also had the dual effect of dragging it out for 7 years so folks aren't even thinking about it or paying attention to it.

I've tried to follow it and so much time passes in between hearing anything that I forget that it's still ongoing.

Oregon is like 25th on Nike deals. Washington had a bigger deal with Nike than Oregon for the last few years already.

From a tweet via a UW poster: 'Coach Petersen has previously said he wants a UW offer to "mean something" and that's why the school selectively recruits. 247 reports the Huskies have extended 63 formal offers, compared to Oregon which has 256.'
