Doob's take: both teams are struggling as of late. Devils are out of it, Capitals are on the very of being out of it. I imagine the Capitals will have more to play for but not having anything to play for could make the Devils very dangerous. I have questions about the Capitals' dmen, and the Devils are known for their forecheck, so I will pick the Devils to win 3-2.

I look at the Caps road record and the Devils home record and figure it should be an easy win for the Devils, right? Not so fast, last time the Capitals & Devils played at the Prudential Center, the Capitals prevailed 3-0. This could be a very interesting game on its own merit.

A lot of it is going to come down to goaltending. Halak has been hit or miss with the Capitals. Schneider has been able to keep the Devils in games, they just don't score for him.

LOL seems to me everything is always hit & miss when the Caps are involved.

e.g.
OV has 48 goals but only 24 assists and has a +/- of -36

I think it's because the Devils could still technically pass the Rangers up in terms of points. Trail the Rangers by 9 points with 5 games (10 potential points).
