From a couple nights ago now but, sure Alex, your team lost the game 5-2 and left it to the last game to be eligible for a playoff spot but the NHL is trying to block your team from the playoffs.



The Avs also had a shitty offside call earlier in the year against the Blues, FWIW.

He had Subban, Price, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Plekanec and Gallagher more or less in their primes and he couldn't do anything with it.

Granted, that's perhaps not a cup contender, but that's a pretty solid core to build around.

And Markov.

His fuckup list is pretty impressive just because of how varied the fuckups are:

-He couldn't attract any half-decent free agents and the ones he did go after were awful guys to go after (enjoy Andrew Shaw for another 4 years! Karl Alzner will be around for a year longer! )

-Juulsen, Mete and/or Poehling might wind up being good NHLers but since he got there the only guys he's drafted that have made an impact in the NHL are Galchenyuk (who they've almost destroyed) and Sergachev (who they traded to a division rival for a player who plays a position they didn't need help in).

-He traded the face of the franchise, at least in part, because he didn't get along with his terrible coach and then fired that terrible coach 6 months later because he's terrible.

-He somehow managed to be dumb enough to trade down on Subban both skill-wise and contract-wise (even Chia hasn't done that)

-Rushed to sign Price to that deal despite signs of a decline last year. If he played the way he did this year while needing a new contract the chances of him being re-signed (or even being traded) are 50-50 at best.

And yet, he's won the division 3 times in 6 years and I guess that buys a guy security :noidea
