SAN FRANCISCO--(6/6) -- Top prospect Noah Syndergaard has been diagnosed with a sprain of his left, non-throwing shoulder as a result of Thursday's plate collision in Las Vegas, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.

The degree of the sprain was not yet clear.

"Noah is undergoing further tests today," Sandy Alderson told ESPNNewYork.com. "I hope to have something more definitive later this evening."

Syndergaard had been dispatched for X-rays on Thursday night after colliding with a baserunner at the plate after uncorking a wild pitch. He departed the game in the first inning.

Syndergaard had just returned from a DL trip for a forearm strain.

Series preview: Mets at Giants - Mets Blog - ESPN New York

This series might get ugly...and the Mets could be limping home in last place when it's all said & done...ugghhh

I have tickets for tonight & tomorrow, but I may just opt for tomorrow's game only....lol

I hope it does. Sorry. I just don't feel like any lead is big enough to keep LA at bay. We need to beat up on the teams we are supposed to beat up on. Unfortunately, the Metsies seem to like playing in SF. Be nice!

yippee....more "good" news......smh

SAN FRANCISCO -- Dillon Gee resumed throwing Wednesday on flat ground, but it still will be a while before he returns to the New York Mets rotation.

Gee had refrained from throwing since experiencing discomfort in his strained right lat muscle on May 25 while attempting to toss a baseball.

He has not pitched in a game since May 10, when he faced the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.

Because Gee will ultimately have spent about a full month away from a mound, the right-hander will probably need at least two minor league rehab appearances. And he's not even back on a mound yet.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is temporarily holding Gee's rotation spot

SAN FRANCISCO -- Eric Young Jr. will not be returning from the disabled list when he is eligible Tuesday.

Young felt tightness in his strained right hamstring running at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and has been backed off his rehab program.

He was placed on the DL on May 25.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Noah Syndergaard dodged a bullet in his plate collision after uncorking a wild pitch.

X-rays of the scapula were negative and Syndergaard has been diagnosed with a sprained A/C joint in his left, non-throwing shoulder. He will refrain from throwing for five days to a week, then may resume.

Syndergaard had just returned from a forearm strain when he suffered the injury in the first inning Thursday with Triple-A Las Vegas.
