TRAINER'S ROOM:

UP NEXT:
Mets: RHP Seth Lugo (1-1, 2.48 ERA) will make his first start of the season as the Mets open a four-game home series against the Chicago Cubs. In 26 starts, he's 12-6 with a 4.09 ERA. He's 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in one start and two relief appearances when facing the Cubs.

And now they're trying to burn down Citifield.

The Mets are 3-7 in their last 10. If the bullpen was even remotely competent they would have been 7-3, a game out even while running a MASH unit.

So many late leads blown.

It's the exact opposite of April, when the bullpen was locking shit up. Not totally unexpected, teams go through slumps and hot streaks... but I think May is a better indicator of what kind of team we're looking at, rather than the hot April start

After tonight's game they can turn the page on the calendar, leave May in the rear view, look forward to June and focus on what's ahead. Let's just take it one game at a time...get some of the troops back, make better decisions and go from there.

Ugghhh....

Joey "Bats" was up in the 3rd with the bases loaded and 1 only out...

Got 5 pitches but didn't move that bat off his shoulder for any of them.

Strike 1 looking, ball 1, strike 2 looking, ball 2, called 3rd.

:gaah:

Conforto grounded out for the 3rd out.

End of 3, game is scoreless....(for now)

Blevins couldn't pitch a clean inning so now it's 3-0 Cubs in the 6th.

I know this starter by committee is planned for certain games...but why couldn't Lugo stay for 1 more inning instead of just going 4, then turning it over to Robles/Blevins so soon???
He (Lugo) was doing fine and his pitch count wasn't high.

:noidea:

Meh...whatevs....it's hoops time.

Cubs vs. Mets - Game Recap - May 31, 2018 - ESPN

TRAINER'S ROOM:
Mets: LHP Steven Matz (mild finger strain) felt good playing catch and intends to throw a bullpen Friday. If all goes well, he could make his next scheduled start Sunday without missing a turn.
RHP Noah Syndergaard, on the 10-day disabled list with a strained ligament in his right index finger, said he'll probably miss one or two starts. ... 3B Todd Frazier (strained left hamstring) played 5 1/2 innings in a rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas. He went 1 for 3 with an RBI. ... RHP Anthony Swarzak (strained left oblique) is set to pitch an inning for Las Vegas on Friday. His final rehab outing is expected to be Sunday, according to Callaway. ... Sandy Alderson said he's "a little surprised" by how long it's taking slugger Yoenis Cespedes to come back from his strained right hip flexor, an injury the GM said is "somewhat chronic."
