We can only hope the Month of May will be kinder to the Metsies than April.

Mets finish April at 10-14
...in last place in the NL east 6.5 games back of 1st...
.....but only 1.5 games out of 2nd place.

It all starts tomorrow in Atlanta.

I'll come back to the Mets threads after I get over my fury at Mets management.

Ugh. So angry with them, it's hard to articulate.

Thor out indefinitely...probably due to overcompensating from the bicep issue??
He should have been skipped again when he refused the MRI..

Are the Mets through without Thor?

Noah Syndergaard is going to the disabled list, and the Mets have to try to salvage their season after this train wreck of a first month.

FIRE SANDY!

FIRE COLLINS!

EARTH TO JEFF: tell the old man Fred to sell the team.

That is all.

Mets played keep away for 5 innings.
Hopefully they don't go into give away mode these final few frames.

We had a 6-1 lead in the 4th..then it was 6-3 after 4...and 6-5 after 6.

Mets still holding on, 6-5 top of the 8th.

Mets vs. Braves | 05/02/17

ATLANTA -- The last time Matt Harvey took the mound, he was a late replacement for Noah Syndergaard, learning approximately three hours before his start that he was going to pitch. Now, with Syndergaard on the disabled list for the foreseeable future, Harvey's performance becomes even more critical to the Mets.

The team hopes some advance notice will be enough for Harvey to improve upon the 4 1/3-inning, six-run outing he delivered last time out against the Braves. He will return to the mound for a 7:35 p.m. ET game Tuesday against R.A. Dickey and the Braves at SunTrust Park.

"It's our job to be ready at any time," Harvey said.

The winning pitcher in last Thursday's game, Dickey will make his second consecutive start against Harvey and the Mets. Dickey left his last outing after five innings due to a left quad spasm, but expects to be fine for Tuesday's start.

Three things to know

• Mets manager Terry Collins said he plans to stick with Curtis Granderson on an everyday basis in center despite his struggles.

"We aren't hitting, and the one thing you don't want to do is put added outs in your lineup," Collins said, referencing backup Juan Lagares' career-long issues against right-handed pitching.

Lagares will start Thursday when the Mets face a lefty.

• The last time Jose Reyes faced Dickey, he homered, marking the start of a hot streak the third baseman has ridden ever since. But Reyes has actually struggled overall against his former teammate, posting a 5-for-27 (.185) lifetime mark with five strikeouts.

• In Harvey's last outing, Braves hitters simply weren't going after his out-of-zone pitches, as their chase rate of 11.9 percent was the lowest for any Harvey outing in the Statcast era. Through five starts in 2017, Harvey's overall chase rate of 22.2 percent is down significantly from the past two seasons, when he got swings on about one-third of those pitches.

If Harvey is gonna continue shaking off pitch signals from Travis and go with stuff he wants that's not not working, while his pitch count rises, he won't make to the 5th inning.

Why is it all our fielders always seem to be out of position a lot at key times??

3-2 braves after 2.
