...not sure why they didn't send him to one of the farm teams for a start or 2 before bringing him back.

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets have activated right-handed pitcher Zack Wheeler from the disabled list and placed outfielder Michael Conforto on the 10-day DL with a bruised left hand.

The Mets announced the moves before Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, which Wheeler (3-5, 5.29 ERA) is starting. He missed the past two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He was pitching well, with a 3.45 ERA, before getting hit hard in two consecutive short starts and going on the DL retroactive to June 20 with biceps tendinitis.

Conforto hasn't played since getting hit by a pitch in San Francisco on June 25. Multiple tests revealed no fractures. His move to the disabled list was retroactive to June 28, making him eligible to return on July 8.

All-Star closer Jeurys Familia, who had surgery in May for a blood clot near his right armpit, will head to Florida next week to begin a throwing program. He could be back by early August, Collins said. "We were very lucky that the clot wasn't worse than it turned out to be," Collins added.

Whenever they play them, they lay down cowering, and proceed to get bullied and pounded into submission.
Collins hasn't a clue, and Alderson just says yes sir to the Wilponzi's.

Disgraceful and an embarrassment.

Murphy, Harper lead Nationals to 11-4 rout of Mets

WASHINGTON -- Daniel Murphy drove in five runs on four hits, Bryce Harper had three hits and two RBI and the Washington Nationals routed the New York Mets 11-4 on Tuesday.

Murphy improved his career average to .405 against the Mets, his first and only former big league team.

New York's Seth Lugo (3-2) yielded four of his sixth runs in his fifth and final innings, and failed to pitch beyond the fifth for the first time since his return from injury in June.

Jay Bruce hit his 21st home run for New York in the ninth. Jose Reyes and Rene Rivera also homered and Brandon Nimmo had three hits, but the Mets left nine men on and finished 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position.



Mets: OF Curtis Granderson (hip) was a late scratch and has now been out of manager Terry Collins' starting lineup for the last three games. He pinch hit again Tuesday after he entered to hit a game-tying home run Monday night.
OF Yoenis Cespedes was also out of the lineup after as a precaution after developing leg cramps on a diving attempt in the outfield Monday night, Collins said.
