Ohio State gives QB Haskins nod entering camp

Ohio State sophomore Dwayne Haskins will enter preseason camp as the team's starting quarterback, coach Urban Meyer said Friday.

Speaking with reporters before the Ohio State Football Job Fair in Columbus, Meyer named Haskins the starter but said sophomore Tate Martell will compete for the top job when practices resume later this summer.

Haskins, Martell and Joe Burrowcompeted during spring practice, but Burrow last month left the team to join LSU as a graduate transfer.

No offense to Martell, he seems like a solid kid and a great Buckeye, but if he left ends up somehow winning the job I'll be disappointed to say the least

Buckeyes are without an experienced starter for the first time in 3 years. This guy's sample size is microscopic, so I'm a little less optimistic than local radio guys.

Kid can throw a Nerf ball through a brick wall though, so there's plenty of upside.

Plus there's that whole clutch throw against TTUN thing, so...
