ugh I really wish the Sox could have held onto Allen.

Mejia's a good pickup though it remains to be seen if he'll stick behind the plate. I'm surprised Cleveland would trade him unless they're convinced he's a far worse catching option than Gomes/Perez (which is possible), but they're both pretty mediocre players. But if he can't stick at catcher, he goes from being a top prospect to a merely decent prospect. He doesn't really have the power to be a star corner OF/1B.
Logan Allen has been great this year, I'm excited to see him in San Diego next year. I'm excited about Mejia and hope he can stick at catcher, even if that means Hedges is forced into a backup spot or gets traded.

So will the Pads trade Hedges now? Will he fetch any value?

At what point do the Pads actually have to perform with all these prospects?
His defense is still a plus so there's some value despite his ugly offense, but they could keep him as the backup if Mejia takes his starting spot. I'd say 6 or 7 of the 10 on that top 100 list will be in San Diego by 2019, so there's gonna be more expectations to actually compete next season. 2018 was supposed to be a year of improvement and fight for .500 but instead they have the worst record in the NL. I could see Preller making a big offseason trade with some of the farm system to try and get an ace or big bat at 3rd to help push them further along.

He really sucks huh? Giants should trade him before he loses his value.
An embarrassing performance by the Giants' representative.

Hedges never really hit that well in the minors (.273/.326/.441) outside of AAA (.968 OPS), but it's hard to take PCL batting performances too seriously. The dude has a 40/213 BB/K ratio in 730 PA and a .253 OBP. His 82 wRC+ this season actually isn't too far off from the league average for catchers (85 wRC+), but it's hard to envision it getting much better barring some major improvement in plate discipline.

I really want to see Hedges succeed and he showed some nice pop last year but in his career his offense has been mostly bad and he can't get on base, the defense can only get you so far. If this was a team that 1-7 in the lineup was great and could handle the catchers spot being weak then maybe Hedges keeps his starting job, but the Padres NEED offense.

Good lord I despise Melancon. I knew from the second I saw that ugly mug that he was a big mistake.

Don't think they even knew Melancon. With a little better command of the language though your post would have been very witty.

Man, if Joc could even remotely hit lefties he'd be one of the best center fielders in the game. Still a great player for someone who bats strictly against righties though. He's done a great job cutting down on the K's (27.3% in 2016, only 15.1% this year). Hitting .269/.350/.542 (139 wRC+). .287/.378/.593 against righties this year.

Preller, please don't waste away multiple 10 top prospects for Chris Archer. It won't work out.

Rox need to throw the Rays a package and get Ramos behind the dish. He's slated to get his rehab start done on Saturday and will come off the DL by the 31st.

Seems like the Padres keep finding new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

They showed yesterday that they have better skillz in that than the Giants. It was a true heavyweight fight between two of the greats in that regard.

Padres are in the light heavyweight division, they usually fight above their weight class. It wasn't a fair fight but they did compete up until that final round.

The Giants made some solid moves in the off season that just didn't work out. No need to waste talent at the trade deadline. Injuries didn't help but its time to just play it out and see what happens.

WTF? Do you watch the games? As for not working out; McCutchen, Longoria and Jackson. The first two have had much less production than expected and the third they finally had to shit can.
