Bour is a noted Braves killer, but with Santana there, and him being a switch hitter, and both Santana and Bour only being able to play first base without being a liability, I don't really get the trade. I guess the Phils are gonna have a power bat coming off the bench in every game. They just gave Santana a pretty big contract, so I don't see him getting benched.

Phillies struggled with the Mets.

I don't think Philly is going to go much further than perhaps a WC game, if that. They're terrible on the road, they don't have as good a run diff as Atlanta and Washington, and they're mediocre in division this year.

9 games left with the Nats, 7 with the Braves

6 a piece with the Mets and Marlins left, but they haven't exactly crushed those teams this year: 5-7 vs NY; 8-5 against Miami.

They'd better absolutely destroy the Mets, Marlins, and Blue Jays, and hope they do well enough against Atlanta, Washington, Chicago and Colorado

Only the Mets could have pulled that one off.

Their "first baseman of the future" is playing left field, and crashes into their "SS of the future" on a routine popup.

Meanwhile, the Mets just trotted out a pitcher named Zamora

Gonna be tough for the Braves to finish off, our September schedule is brutal...while Phillies play cupcakes.

Also Philadelphia is so lucky this year, Braves have already played 2 more games against .500 or better teams than them (Braves are 34-34 and Phillies are 33-33) and play plenty more while the Phillies dont. I know we play the same teams but they have played teams at the perfect time all year.

They also are +5 in Pythagorean W/L while the Braves are -1

Play it out and see, but I like our chances. It seems like other than Nola, the rest of the Phillies rotation is starting to fade a bit while our rotation is doing the best it has done all season(Guasman being good so far and Julio Teheran on a surprising good roll lately are factors). And I think we're gonna get some real value out of the September call ups.

I think Touki Toussaint is going to be our ace of the future. He has the best stuff and great control to with it out of all of our prospects, and he's gonna be making spot starts and coming out of the pen. Same with Bryce Wilson.

We're also the top scoring offense in the NL.

You never can tell, we might fall completely apart down the stretch with a young team and all, but we have just as good of a shot as anyone in the NL.

And regardless of what happens this has been a fun season. Remember when our offense was pretty much just Freddie Freeman?

The Braves traded into their strengths

It's never a good idea to "put a w in the books" for the Mets. They'll always find a way to fuck up.

Pretty interesting article. I guess I've been a bit too harsh on our defense this year. Guess it's because it seems like when an error is made it winds up costing us the game.

Cupcakes? 13 of their 28 games in September come against the Cubs, Braves, and Rockies.

6 more come against the Mets who they are 5-8 against this season.

3 come against Washington who they are basically .500 against this season.

They play 6 against the Marlins who they are 8-5 against. The only team that should be considered a cupcake.

Braves schedule is tough but the Phillies schedule isn't loaded with cupcakes. Half of the month they play playoffs teams and one of the "cupcakes" they play been kicking their ass all season long

thought that Philly would win this division, but it looks like I will be wrong.
Give credit to the Braves. they win just enough to keep the other teams at bay.

Phillies might still win,but a quick look at the run differential would have told you who was more legit, but weird things happen, and the Phils still have a shot.
