you know reading up on this guy i really hope he isnt more interested in the arena then the devils.

hockey teams are hard teams to make a profit on. i just hope he doesnt want to minimize the amount of money the team will lose by slashing payroll and just focusing in on the real money with the arena and concerts.

In my opinion the deal got done mainly because of the arena..we all know the Devils wouldnt have sold for anywhere close to this much if they were still playing in East Rutherford.

With that said though it seems like the owners are focused on the team. The team being a winner helps the arena and vice versa.

And the good thing about being owned by a guy with pockets that deep is most of the time they have no problem pumping a little money into the business first and reaping the benefits later. The Devils wont be Harris' main business and even though a lot of people might think thats a bad thing I think its a great thing. I think he wont get too high when things are good and too low when things are bad.

Also it looks like Forbes was wrong again valuing the franchise at 205 mil..Im not saying were worth 330 but 205 was a complete lowball..even without the arena rights.

Buncha amateurs.

Forbes is headquartered in Manhattan. Probably a bunch of ranger fans.
Wrong 2 times in 2 weeks.
Even the idiots I work with ran to my office as soon as they heard from Forbes that the NHL is taking over the Devils.

The NY media bias is pretty moronic..its obvious where Rag fans get it from.

Boomer and Carton (not that I take much stock into their sports talk) mentioned the sale this morning and said that no one should be surprised if the Devils move within 5 years. Without taking into account Harris' priorities or the 25 year lease. Not like WFAN is the Devils radio home or anything though lol.

And the NY Post hasnt even mentioned the sale. Guess Larry Brooks only reports the "crisis" rumors.

So deep pockets, tons of cap space, let's fucking dominate free agency next year.

without looking too far ahead i agree that next year we really can make a splash. i really wouldnt mind then trying to trade for vanek now i think we would def be able to resign him.

we do need to make the playoffs this year. otherwise that lost draft pick will really look bad

if its in the 20s i dont care if we lose it. if its in the middle teens or lower then i will be pissed we didnt give it up

Yes, agree. We all want the playoffs.
The worst that can happen is this team is hovering around that 8 spot at the deadline. Makes a push to make the playoffs and fails to do so.

If the team is to miss the playoffs, I rather the team know this by the trade deadline, become sellers, and try to deal for some picks, including a 1st if possible.

NM, do we really wanna become the Rags? off-season cup champs? I mean, we're torching them for being like that now you're wanting us to do that?

Nothing wrong with signing the right guys. If we have the cap space might as well use it.
