I measure conference depth three different ways:
1. Number of teams in Top 5 + number of teams in top 10 + number in top 15 + number in top 20 + number in top 25 = total points. Here's my rankings by that measure:
1) SEC: 3 in Top 5, 3 in Top 10, 4 in Top 15, 7 in Top 20, 7 in Top 25 = 24
2) Pac-12: 1 in Top 5, 4 in Top 10, 5 in Top 15, 5 in Top 20, 5 in Top 25 = 20
3) Big 12: 1 in Top 5, 2 in Top 10, 3 in Top 15, 3 in Top 20, 3 in Top 25 = 12
4) ACC: 0 in Top 5, 1 in Top 10, 2 in Top 15, 3 in Top 20, 4 in Top 25 = 10
5) Sun Belt: 0 in Top 5, 0 in Top 10, 1 in Top 15, 1 in Top 20, 1 in Top 25 = 3
5) Big 10: 0 in Top 5, 0 in Top 10, 0 in Top 15, 1 in Top 20, 2 in Top 25 = 3
7) Colonial: 0 in Top 5, 0 in Top 10, 0 in Top 15, 0 in Top 20, 1 in Top 25 = 1
7) AAC: 0 in Top 5, 0 in Top 10, 0 in Top 15, 0 in Top 20, 1 in Top 25 = 1
7) A-Sun: 0 in Top 5, 0 in Top 10, 0 in Top 15, 0 in Top 20, 1 in Top 25 = 1
2. By playoff seeding, ie: Number in Top 4 + number in top 8, plus number in top 12, plus number in top 16 = total points:
1) SEC: 2 in Top 4, 5 in Top 8, 6 in Top 12, 7 in Top 16 = 20
2) Big 12: 1 in Top 4, 2 in Top 8, 3 in Top 12, 3 in Top 16 = 9
3) Pac-12: 1 in Top 4, 1 in Top 8, 2 in Top 12, 4 in Top 16 = 8
4) ACC: 0 in Top 4, 0 in Top 8, 1 in Top 12, 2 in Top 16 = 3
3. By total number of teams in the playoff field:
1) SEC: 12
2) Pac-12: 6
3) Big 12: 5
3) ACC: 5
5) Sun Belt: 4
6) Big 10: 3
6) AAC: 3
8) A-Sun: 2
8) MVC: 2
(Leagues with only one team in the field were not counted)
An optional rating would combine methods 2 & 3, above:
1) SEC: 32
2) Big 12: 14
2) Pac-12: 14
4) ACC: 8
5) Sun Belt: 4
6) Big 10: 3
6) AAC: 3
8) A-Sun: 2
8) MVC: 2
Combining all three methods would give you the following results:
1) SEC: 56
2) Pac-12: 34
3) Big 12: 26
4) ACC: 18
5) SBC: 7
6) Big 10: 6
7) AAC: 4
8) A-Sun: 3
9) Colonial: 2
9) MVC: 2
