POLL MBBRL D2 Defensive/ST scoring poll

From the discussion we look like we have 3 different systems, that I will explain in a few.

The following seem to be ok with everyone that posted in the discussion thread.

Sacks = 1
DTD/Return TD = 6
Blocked kick = 2
Forced Fumble = 1
Fumble recovery =1
Int =2
Safety =2

The above are the same on all three.

After we decide on scoring and yardage (this poll) we need to see about return yards.

7-13 PA = 6
14-21 PA =4
22-27PA =2
35-45PA =-2
46+PA = -4

Yardage

0-99YA = 12
100-199YA = 6
200-299YA = 2
400-449YA = -2
450-499YA = -3
500-549YA = -4
550+YA = -5

But i would change things slightly with the scoring choice...

, i think we should be using defensive points against(pick 6s and fumble recovery for TD shouldn't count)

Agree.

2nd i would make 0 points against to be 10
then do 1-6(really 3 to 6) be 8

The second and third one's have this. The first one does not to allow a complete yardage shutdown a few more points.

I like 3 the best of these options... But i do think -9 is too much to lose, even if we are talking extreme bad defense...

I am fine with penalties... but why did we go from 2 to -2?? if we go 2 to 0 then we can make the Maximum negatives less...

Would not want the maximum negative number to be anything more than -5 all together...

If you look at all three there are gaps in the middle of the scoring and yardage. If your score/yards fall into that gap you would get 0 points. So the 0 is there, it is just not typed in.

If your score is between 28-34 you would get 0 points
If your yardage is between 300-399 you would get 0 points

So more than likely most of the defenses are going to be totally worthless and you shouldn't want to own one then?

Very close to basic scoring and under system one the average D got 9.23 points a game
Under system two the average D got 6.03 points a game
System three is not in any league I play in, but it's totals should be similar to system one.

So much random luck for just 9 points lol. Hate that a team defense could or would make the difference in a matchup. Should have made them play IDP lol.

The problem is DST is only 1 roster spot and the bigger the point swing allowed by the scoring system the more valuable the position becomes.

I agree with most here.

3 is the best choice available, but I think the issue could be fixed by eliminating the negative points for yards. That way, if your D gets torched the worst you get is -4.

Shady, don't forget that you add in points for sacks, TOs, etc.
