I'm worried about Felix' back. But, if he can keep the pain under control all year, it looks like he's going to be chasing the CY once again. Buchholtz is the early front runner, but I don't think he can maintain his pace all year long. Cheating allegations could have a mental affect on him. Going through the league a second time could have an affect on him as well.

Felix' current statistical standing in the AL:
BAA - 2nd
WHIP - 1st
IPs - 1st
Wins- 4th (there's a stunner)
Strikeouts - 2nd
ERA - 2nd

I'll worry about his back when it seems like it is actually bothering him or slowing him down.

He and Iwakuma have been possibly the best 1-2 punch in baseball thus far.

He's doing something this year that he hasn't done in the past three years: he's winning. 5 wins already.

In 2012 he didn't get his 5th win until June 23rd.
In 2011 he didn't get his 5th win until May 22nd.
In 2010 he didn't get his 5th win until June 19th.
In 2009 he didn't get his 5th win until May 24th.

It's still early, obviously, but Felix could be on his way to the greatest season by a starting pitcher in Mariner history.

That is a good sign. Hopefully this team gets him runs when he is out there.

I think the top 3 canidates for the CY will be felix, Darvish, and Verlander by the end of the season!

Yeah, Verlander is always going to be there.
I'm still expecting Buchholtz to fade or get busted.
Not too sure what to think of Darvish. Last year he was good, but not in the running for the CY. This year he's been better. The question is whether he can maintain it all year long or not.
That's also the question with Iwakuma, (can he maintain it) who is actually having a better year than Darvish so far.

Interesting stat about Hisashi Iwakuma:

In 24 career major league starts he is 12-5 with a 2.33 ERA, 146 IP and 129 strikeouts.

For what it's worth he has maintained it for the last 24 starts and is looking even better this year. Hitters have had over a year to figure him out. I think he could have the ERA to be a Cy Young contender but he is not much of an innings eater, which could hurt him.

Better ERA yes. But thats it. Darvish 2.40 FIP 2.16 xFIP iwakuma 2.81 FIP 3.14 xFIP.

Furbush just blew Felix's win. Life of a Mariners fan.

Gardner was struck out twice in the 7th and the homeplate ump refused to call a strike. Then in the ninth, Rivera was given a strike zone as wide as the grand canyon. He got a called strike on Morse that was 6" below the bottom of his knees and then another that as at least 6" inside. With a strike zone like that, Morse had no chance. Putrid. Embarrassing for baseball to be humping Mo to the extent they are right now.

I agree with everything you said. Those calls were seriously a joke. Especially the ones on Morse at the end of the game.

I hate the Yankees... Felt good to give them a clobbering!

If not for the garbage calls in the first game it would have been a sweep.

Sims said it was the first time the Mariners have won a series in NY since 2004, that came as a big surprise to me.

That is surprising but at the same time it isn't since we have been terrible for a long time. We got some pretty good pitching throughout the series minus Furbush's outing. Even Noesi seemed to pitch well. He has been doing much better this year. I had lost hope on him but he may be on his way to a solid season if he keeps it up.

White Sox are playing as bad, if not worse, than the Mariners right now. I would give the edge to Felix.

Felix has not looked great the first few innings. Although it seems as if when he gives up runs it seems as if it usually comes early with him. At least the Mariners are giving him some run support today.

Glad we knocked out Peavey quick. When he is on he is nasty. Might be able to dust off the broom for tomorrow.
