I hate when I don't notice someone get hurt, or at least when the commentators don't notice. I didn't hear a peep about Rogers getting hurt, let alone, breaking his arm and being done for the season??

I liked him as a short-yardage back too.

Did it happen during the game? I was fairly close to the bench and didn't notice anything too serious.

That sucks though, i thought he was a pretty decent short yardage guy.

well, maybe KaDeem Carey will get in the game now. I never thought the 5'6 199 pounder was a short yardage back, I thought his career was as a scat back, for third down passing game. Just one of the questionable signings with Carey and the plan to draft another.

What about it makes it questionable? Allocating 4-5 roster spots to run game with a RB/FB combination isnt unusual. Bears dont carry a FB, so 4 having RBs on the roster isnt really all that strange. Yes, Quizz is only 5'6, but at 199 lbs- thats a lot strength in a small package. With that strength and leverage advantage, a negative play from him isnt likely in a short yardage between the tackles type play. I liked the signing for that reason.

That sucks for Rodgers...but I want to see more of Langford anyway. Should get some more carries. Ka'Deem was an Emery pick that hasn't shown much. Pace Pick Langford is going to get the bulk now.

Jump right on.

You want to list the players in the nfl that are 199 or smaller and show which one is considered a short yardage back against 300 pound defensive linemen? Short men are John Kuhn, 6'0 250 pounds, which are usually fullbacks.

He was always a scat back, he was known as a third down back when he was signed and no, third down does not mean short yardage, its sweeps and screens out of the backfield trying to get more than a yard.

A good short yardage back means he rarely gets negative yards. Period. And for a small guy, he plays low and is tough to bring down on the first contact.

We needed to see more of the young guys. This signing was strange to me from the start. Don't want anyone hurt but the young guys need playing time. We have to know if we have something in case Forte is not here next year.

There is nothing wrong with signing a low tender deal for a legitimate No. 2 back. Carey will be out of the league in no time and Langford is a rookie, who incidentally has gotten quite a few reps already for a 3rd back, but ideally a rookie is not your No. 2

WHAT???? Hes FIVE FOOT SIX...BUT weighs nearly TWO HUNDRED POUNDS. You call that small?? He is a brick shit house. A lot of power with a leverage advantage because he is short. Going lower than the defender makes him difficult to tackle.

you must weigh a buck 50 soaking wet if you think 200 is big. now we are arguing that one of the 10% lightest players in the nfl where defenses average 280 pounds is big.

Sigh...incorrectly interpreted by you, as usual. Im NOT at all comparing him to other players that are physically wider, taller and weigh more. Im saying someone someone that packs muscle on a 5'6" inch frame to the tune of 200 lbs is one strong guy. Hes a RB, so its safe to say most of that is in his legs. Hes short, so he can go low. Combining that with 200 lbs of muscle makes him difficult to tackle. When defender and ball carrier meet, the low man has a distinct advantage. Leverage( 5'6") and strength( ~200 lbs) thats why he can get yards in between the tackles.
