I know. Harper is about to cruise into his prime with 8 years under his belt and people slag on him because he's a bit of a jackoff. I'd take him on the Red Sox in a heartbeat.
yup.

Well you are just shifting the goal posts then. You said that Nevin had 3-4 great years. But Harper's 2015 was only "borderline great"
sure, in total. his best years were ages 29/30. i didnt move anything.

.880 28
.916 29
.976 30
.859 33

thats just OPS

his 4 best years. are you using "great" too literally? me thinks so.

"rock, in 2015 you said GREAT!"

If Harper had 2 less HRs but 2 more doubles (so he'd have 40 doubles), and 10 less runs scored but 1 more RBI (so he'd have 100 RBI), is his season somehow better because of those milestones?

Meh.

Rock's either trolling us or he's a buffoon. Either way, I'm moving on.

He doesn't exactly fit the current roster construction, but you could probably make it work. lol

Send JBJ packing, move Betts to CF and Harper can make himself at home in RF. Devers to 1st, Martinez to DH and fill in outfielder. That leaves a hole at 3rd base.

You didn't move anything? You went from Nevin had 3-4 great years to Nevin had 2 really good seasons.

I'm trying to figure out what you mean by "great".

Phil Nevin: 3-4 great years
2015 Bryce Harper: borderline great

"rock, in 2015 you said GREAT!"

you also have to look at positions, era, pitching, etc.

Every "richest player" in sports isn't worth what they're paid and that's that. When one of the big-boy teams of baseball gives Harper a contract he may be that richest player, and he won't be worth what he's paid given the proportions it will create with the other elite talents in the league. But one of those teams will think he's worth it and while he won't be, he will be good enough to get them a championship if they have enough money for the rest of the things they need.

In the nhl the hawks are paying Toews as much as any other player in the league and no one thinks Toews is as good at hockey as Bryce is at baseball...this isn't some shocker.
